Residents' View

The views below show the upper end of Dwr-y-Felin Road - considered to be one of the steepest roads in Neath.

The hill at its steepest point is shown above with the Waunceirch Community Centre on the right. Hundreds of residents live in recently built houses beyond the top of the hill.  This photo was taken by Google in 2008 - more houses have been added since then.

Dwr-y-Felin Road - half way up the top section.  It's a steep walk uphill after posting a letter, especially if you are an elderly person.

Looking at a map is one thing where the terrain is not shown - even the above photo does not show the true steepness of the road - climbing the hill is the test - even for a fit person!

Post Office users, residents, believe that the Post Office is responsible for mail posted as soon as it is put into a Royal Mail Post Box.

The Post Box is the property of the Royal Mail and whilst mail is on their propery they are responsible for it.

The Post Boxes at Caewern are considered to be unable to give the protection that is required in this day and age with the facts we have presented.

To restore confidence in the Royal Mail service it seems a sensible thing to provide a Post Box inside the Tesco Waunceirch Express store.   This is already done at the larger Tesco stores where mail remains safe until collected.

As far as cost is concerned, it is on record that the Post Office made £324m profit last year.    If they are considering a flotation then it makes sense that they should put their house in order first.

Let's hope that this website will help the Post Office to see the situation at Waunceirch, which we hope does not exist elsewhere.
