Local Issues Surgery - February 23rd 2008

Stretton Parish Councillors Brian Buxton and Craig Chapman will be holding their monthly Local Issues Surgery at The Priory Centre, Stretton near Burton on Trent from 11.30-12.30.

This is mostly to discuss any local issues that you feel that the Council can help to resolve. We will do our best to notify the relevant authorities and hopefully see them resolved.

We are also more than happy to discuss national issues that you believe the Popular Alliance can publicise and work on. We have had great success in bringing about policy U-Turns in at least 9 Labour & Tory policies in the last year, so yes, we are heard and our common sense approach is paying dividends.

Popular Alliance has begun 2008 in a healthy and exciting position.

Party accounts were signed off at the recent AGM, held in Burton on Trent. This puts the Popular Alliance at least one step ahead of the EU, who's accounts have not achieved such a position for 13 years - AND our donations are all accounted for.

More new members have joined up, with 2 very experienced, useful and driven guys also joining the National Council.

Membership

Popular Alliance now offers a 2-tier membership. A Full Member pays the annual subs, has full voting rights at meetings and gets involved in promoting the party. An Associated Member vows to support the Party's aims, does not pay the membership fee and does not have voting rights.

This move came about as we so often encounter good people who are members of other political parties, but are becoming disillusioned with their leadership, lack of progress, directionless polices etc. We welcome them to become an Associated PA Member and take all the time they need to learn what we are all about. Membership forms can be found on the front page of www.popularalliance.org.

European Union Intrusions

Popular Alliance continues to oppose all European Union intrusions into the running of our country. At the time when Gordon Brown was signing the Constitutional Treaty in Lisbon, we ask where were the comments from the likes of UKIP, Veritas and BNP ? We are led to believe that all 3 were amidst internal squabbles and none of them raised a single registered complaint at that time.

Popular Alliance Influence on British Politics

In the last year, Popular Alliance has had a major influence on the country's 2 largest party's regular U-Turns in policy. Just 18 months ago, we were taking flack and insults for some of the good common sense that we have in our policies. So far we have counted 9 definate U-Turns where our words have been quoted almost like-for-like and at least 4 more areas where our ideas have been heavily borrowed.

So, next time you hear someone complaining about how badly our country is being run, about how much tax they pay, about their kids unable to find holiday jobs, about hospitals - don't accept the usual "Well, what can we do" rubbish.

Tell them that a group of good, hard working, tax paying people have formed their own political party, gained a number of very good members, written a whole set of common sense, complimentary policies and made both the Tories and Labour change their minds on a number of issues.

We now aim to become the UK Political Party with the most members, but can do nothing if nobody believes success can be achieved. Please do not simply give in to the awful way in which Gordon Brown is running our country and the lack of alternatives offered by Cameron, the LibDem bloke and whatnot. Say enough is enough and get yourself heard. The Popular Alliance is being heard.

Please read on about our party and policies, tell your friends and do your bit to save this falling nation.
