EU Elections - No Thank You !!

Popular Alliance will not have any candidates standing at the forthcoming EU elections. As a party, we do not recognise that the European Union has any legal jurisdiction upon our shores and we believe that to particpate in any political dialogue with an overseas ruling potentate is to support and participate with treason, as listed in the Bill of Rights 1689.

Knowing what we do as a party, regarding our country's illegal EU membership and the consequences of supporting that system, for us to take part in EU Elections, would be committing the crime of Compounding Treason (as we believe all other parties that do so, will be guilty of). For more details of this stance, please go to www.popularalliance.org.

POPULAR ALLIANCE WIN WELSH COUNCIL SEAT

Iain Sheldon was voted onto the Aberath Ward of the Dyffryn Arth Community in Ceredigion, Wales. He commented that it had been very hard work to canvas as many people live over a mile from their nearest neighbours, but he managed to get around as many as he could and received some very encouraging feedback regarding his main aims.

Anyone who wishes to contact Iain regarding local or Popular Alliance issues can do so on Tel : 01570 471181 or by Email at mrisheldon@yahoo.co.uk

POPULAR ALLIANCE STANDING IN WALES

Popular Alliance's new Welsh Chairman, Iain Sheldon is standing in the Local Council Elections in Aberarth & Cilcennin in the Welsh County of Ceredigion.

As he has only recently joined Popular Alliance, his application for the councils went through as an independent candidate, however he is not holding back in telling people just who and what he represents.
Iain has been a farmer for many years and is passionate about a fair deal for farmers, the ways in which farms are passed on through families and in farming-associated industries.
He campaigns for worthwhile re-usable energy methods such as Hydro Electric Power, Wave Power and using local water mills to generate electricity for local areas, taking an immense strain off the national power grid and lessening our need for so many polluting power stations here and for so much imported Russian gas, via the EU agreements.
Iain has long been opposed to the EU, especially through its treatment of British farmers and also, it's plans to introduce even more region government offices, as if we didn't pay enough tax already, to cover the ever increasing line of paper shufflers.

We welcome him to the Popular Alliance and wish him all the best on May 1st.

VOTERS OF STRETTON.

A big thank you to everyone who voted for me and Popular Alliance in the By Election on Thursday 14th. February.

Our share of the vote increased from that in the May election which is very heartening. We may have been unsuccessful in this battle, but the war has a long way to go and we will get there..

Thank you once again,

Brian Buxton.

Leader.

ESBC Results - Congratulations Len

Popular Alliance would like to congratulate Tory candidate Len Milner in winning the Stretton Ward seat for the East Staffs Borough Council, though we are disappointed that both Labour and BNP pipped Popular Alliance candidate Brian Buxton into 4th place with the LibDems trailing way behind. Len is a decent guy and we know he will do his best to represent Stretton.

Quite how anyone could believe that tosh represented on behalf of the Labour candidate is very surprising, especially as it was them trying to close our County Care Homes, whilst the BNP candidate does not live in the village and is only interested in getting another council seat for their party. If bringing along 21 applications for local Special Constables and running local surgeries for local issues is not what the local population wants, then perhaps we are all barking up the wrong tree !!

Again, as a lesser known political party, Popular Alliance picked up 13% of the vote, against 4 established parties who are well represented in the national media. We already have 2 local parish councillors doing a sterling job.

It should also be noted that only 1792 of the 6300+ (28%) residents included on the electoral register bothered to turn up and have a say in how their rates will be spent for their village at a time when taxation is going through the roof and its wastage is reported across our newspapers and TVs every day. This is indeed an indictment of the way that all 3 larger party's performances are putting our citizens off politics. With turnouts like this, a new political party could come along and form a majority government, even with the big 3 retaining their existing supporters. We suggest that voting be mandatory, even if the slips have to include a "None Of The Above" option.

No wonder Brown is having such an easy ride in delivering us unchallenged to the EU.

Brian would like to thank all those who did vote for him and all those who spent the time preparing and delivering leaflets.

Election News:

Popular Alliance Leader and Stretton Parish Councillor Brian Buxton will be standing as a candidate in the East Staffordshire Borough Council bi-election to replace a disgraced Tory Councillor in the Stretton Ward, due to be held on February 14th, 2008.

Since being elected to Stretton Parish Council, Brian has worked very hard in initiating and holding reguilar meetings with Burton Police Chiefs, regarding problems in Stretton, which have led to 21 applicants for Special Constable positions for Stretton, more police attention in the village and positive correspondence with local newspapers.

Brian is a member of the Traffic sub-committee and has also initiated discussions with local residents and community groups regarding the formation of a Youth Club.

Along with fellow PA Parish Councillor Craig Chapman, Brian has run monthly Local Issues Surgeries (which have been opposed by the local Tories), canvassed local opinion on several issues, set up a stall at the Church Summer Fete to discuss local issues and gripes with residents and also run petitions through many locals shops to gain a local view of traffic problem priorities.

These democratic, pro-active and committed actions are typical of what the Popular Alliance stand for and demonstrate the consistency of our policies and message.

Brian promises equal commitment and integrity for the Borough Council where party politics play a big part. He will be able to represent the side of What Burton and Stretton NEED and not what some national dictat tells local Councillors to vote for or oppose.

He is always available and willing to discuss local and national issues.

We LISTEN to what YOU have to SAY

______________________________________________________

We are delighted to announce that the two local gentlemen below have been elected as Parish Councillors for the Popular Alliance in Staffordshire in May 2007.

Brian Buxton and Craig Chapman campaigned on the following issues:

The need for safer roads through Stretton, in Staffordshire and providing a pedestrian crossing and traffic lights.

The need to keep our village post offices open.

More police presence on foot at night.

Fight to prevent the Staffordshire County Council closing  Residential Care Homes and Day Care Centres.

To provide "drop in" centres for local youngsters.

Brian Buxton

Brian and his wife Hazel have lived in Stretton for 45 years during which the village has grown enormously.
Stretton is only four miles from Burton upon Trent where the borough council have their offices.
He rides his horse Huxley regularly, enjoys playing Badminton and Walking.   When he has the time (which is not very often) he likes reading and listening to classical music.

Brian Buxton

Is a local  businessman and works in Agriculture mainly with Dairy Farmers.

Craig Chapman

His other interests are Music and the Band he plays with called Tara's Secret.

Craig Chapman

Craig and his family have lived in Stretton for 10 years, having previously spent 14 years with the British army which included time in the Staffordshire Regiment, he now works as a Sales Engineer in air filtration. Craig campaigned for safer roads in Stretton, keeping open the local care homes and he is also keen to bring a degree of fairness to neighbourhood planning applications, where the majority decision will have more say.

Have you got what it takes?  Would you like to stand as a candidate for the PA in future elections?
