As promised in our Local Election Pledges, Popular Alliance Councillors Brian Buxton and Craig Chapman have begun their season of Local Issue Surgeries.

The first session took place on 29th September in Stretton. A number of local residents came along, with one couple even beating us to the door - and we thought we were early !!

Issues including local traffic, access and youth disturbance problems, were all brought to us from people either unable to attend Parish Council meetings or unwilling to speak out in public. These are all minor issues in the big scheme of things, but are in fact very big issues when they occur day after day in people's lives.

All these issues were brought forward by Brian & Craig to the Parish Council meeting and the necessary Council Depts have been notified by letter.

All those who attended this surgery said that they were very happy to have such an opportunity to voice their concerns in an informal, no-pressure meeting and we hope that we can provide or initiate solutions where possible.

These were non-party-political discussions that we hope will benefit the quality of lives of local residents, however if anyone wishes to come along and discuss wider reaching national policies, we'd be most happy to do so. We hope that we can continue to offer this service during the coming months. 

Venue permitting, we intend to hold the next surgery on 27th October. More details will be announced ASAP.

Further sessions will take place at The Priory Centre, Stretton, Burton on Trent on 27 October, 24th November & 29th December 2007.
