Hillsbrough Disaster - More Inquiries

by Craig Chapman - Party Leader - 06:59 on 17 October 2011

The news that the government is to turn over more police reports regarding the Hillsbrough disaster is going to reopen a lot of heartache on Merseyside and in South Yorkshire.

The real reason so many Liverpool fans crammed into Leppings Lane Lower terrace was due entirely to a ticket tout forging upwards of 1000 tickets for that fenced enclosure, the Scally ticket tout network we all giggle about and more than 1000 Liverpool fans happy to buy what they knew were forged tickets. Everything else that happened was a consequence of this action - very sad but cannot be denied.

Certainly the police didn't react well, we all saw the tragic results and there may well have been cover ups within the force, but I'm quite sure we could all go to Anfield (Liverpool home ground) for any match this season and still see ticket touts outside or in the nearby pubs with no campaign by locals to ostracize them, although it has to be said, its a lot harder to cram more people into the stadium when its all numbered seating. I am yet to see a governmental petition regarding ticket touts.

Until everyone accepts this, no-one will have any peace. The police didn't kill anyone, but that's the blame they seem to be receiving.
