Alternative Voting Lunacy

by Craig Chapman - 06:45 on 13 April 2011

As a member and leader of a small, relatively new political party, many would expect me to blog about how fantastic the forthcoming AV referendum might be.

Personally, I think AV is utter lunacy and stinks of the Liberal curse that is erasing all the great aspects of what should make Great Britain, and especially for me, England, great.

We all stare in horror at these Liberal schools where sports day is being hoovered in case some little guy gets upset because he/she didn't win (deal with it and grow your strength of character). Well AV is the same in that the 2nd or 3rd place achiever gets to win by default.

That's not democracy.

We all watched in horror as the EU, in its purest form of arrogance, refused to listen to Ireland's initial "NO" vote in the referendum regarding the Lisbon Treaty, and then forced a second referendum and their insisted "YES" vote. Just look at them now - broke, embarrassed, begging and on their knees. How many versions of "NO" do these people have to hear before they sod off?

That's not democracy, it's lunacy. The winner wins - simple and honest. The loser loses and deals with it, the bully faces his/her come uppance.

The problem is not with the electoral system, the problem is with the electorate - the people. Is it political suicide for me to say this ? Let's see.....

Labour completely wrecked this country under years of such bad management that they couldn't have made a worse mess if they had tried. Yet it still took a coalition to remove them - how stupid is that ? Financial suicide is what the British people voted for, several times on the trot !!!

All these people losing jobs and opportunities isn't because the Tories don't care, its because Labour tied you up in endless jobs that the country couldn't afford. Utter stupidity !!

Many voters barely know the candidate they do vote for, so how can we all be expected to effectively rate the other 3-9 candidates ? A game of pin the tale on the donkey would be just as worthwhile. We all tut at the reported tribal voting in 3rd world countries and then vote the same way our parents and grand-parents did, simply because we live in a county where most have done likewise for 100 years !

If the Tories had the courage of their own inherent convictions, I'd probably be a member of their party and quite an active one.

Likewise if UKIP practiced what they preach, I might well be waving their flag too.

Damn right, this country needs a new way of thinking, but its the people that need to change, not the voting system. Britain is a beacon of supposed democracy and it is only since the Liberal disease slithered out from behind the curtains that we have gone soft and been caught with our collective pants down.

If anyone wants to improve the way of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, it is not by letting a 3rd or 8th place party sit in government, it is by breaking the habit of selfish voting and considering what is best for the country we all live and work in.

We formed Popular Alliance because we believe this.

What sort of country wants a leader who came 5th ? You get what you deserve and right now, we have thousands losing jobs because we, the voters, chose that option.

WAKE UP !!!

Update - 20/4/2011

The big worry of course is that the YES vote will be more motivated on polling day than the NO vote - let's face it, the UK puts more effort into X Factor than how our lives our run.

Popular Alliance propose that voting should be mandatory, although the option of "none of the above" should be included.

If you favour our island falling even further into a chaotic ghetto then vote YES for AV or don't bother to turn up, otherwise, use your noggin and shove a big NO up those pathetic, poisonous, bloody liberals.
