Why Tax The Rich ?

by Craig Chapman - 09:05 on 30 September 2009

By far the biggest drain upon this nation's finances is the endless amount of handouts we throw away.

OK, some need or deserve them, it goes without saying, but :-

Why are we all saying the rich should pay a higher percentage of taxes than those who earn less ? Its the claimers who are creating the problem, not the rich. Common sense suggests we should be hitting them in the pocket, not those who have worked hard to make something for themselves.

Tough love ?

Too damn right !!

The problem our country faces is having too many sitting around not earning and not enough working. When we hit the critical balance point of the workers not being able to support the claimers anymore, the answer cannot be to just tax the workers more. This simply renders more lower earners as claimers and increases the number of administrators required to bumble the whole process.

There has to be a better solution.

Immigration is always an easy target in this argument and yes its a problem, but so are our own scroungers. There are some immigrants who come here to work fairly, but not a great percentage, so we also have to look at ways to solve the problem, not just jiggle it about to mis-represent this month's figures.

This has been the biggest headache caused to this nation by Labour over 13 years. They simply re-name every problem, then push it aside and pretend it doesn't exist. They never solve anything, they just allow these problems to mount up and burst.

Well they do exist and now they have jumped up and bitten this country on the bum - big time !!

Simple solution ? Stop giving away our money !!!

Get these scoungers off their backsides and contributing something of worth. I have a job and they are not my responsibility, not the ones from our own country and not the ones who have come here from overseas with their arms outstreched.

I'm more than happy to support charities of my choice.

I work, I pay tax, I deserve professional services and shorter queues. I do not accept that I should pay more tax and see the quality of those services diminished, often due to some great swell of idle scroungers, creating huge leaks in the finances of this supposedly great nation. We have to stop trying to top up a leaking bucket and concentrate on mending the leaks !!

Who feels the same way ?

By the way, this isn't Popular Alliance Policy - just me thinking out loud and judging by the number of hits its getting, there's many who either agree - or who want to lynch me !!!

PA Policy is to take those earning under £15,000 p/a out of income tax, therefore reducing their reliance on additional hand outs (requiring fewer administrators and giving them a chance to build) and taking away that ridiculous claim that "many people cannot afford to work."
