Car Scrappage ? I'll pay £2K to Scrap Govt !!

by Mike Ross & Craig Chapman - 13:35 on 24 April 2009

Car Scrappage Scheme - Maybe time for a Government Scrappage instead, we can easily raise £2K for that !!

The government, yet again in the slow lane, has agreed to allow £2,000 for a 10 year old car or van against a new vehicle without any restriction. Notably, most "white vans" are newer than 10 years old, due to the work load put upon them so perhaps a mileage reading would be a better yardstick - and the only people who can afford to change their cars are MPs with expense accounts !! Will the £2K go on their expense figures ?

It is predictable that the UK will experience the same as Germany with customers buying cheap imports with all the cash benefits flowing out of the country.

The minimum requirement should be that the new vehicle must be built in the UK which will turn the UK economy and help generate activity and jobs here, not in Korea and such.

Just a quickie whilst we're on the topic, is our government allowed to to do this ? We ask because most of the last minute schemes they hit us with, are U-turned the very next week when they found out that it counters EU policy !!

If last night's "Have I Got News For You" has any baring on Britain's future, we can look forward a Tory government that will run our economy like that of Zimbabwe and that those who speak out against gays will be shot - the words of Alan Duncan, their propective Home Secretary.

Meanwhile they also showed Gordon Brown saying he was taking responsibility for the smear emails and that those responsible would be fired. So why is he still here ??

Just to finish our review of the show - how come Paul Merton's attempt to make jokes about Nazi cows being brought into Britain, failed to include Panzerised Milk, Cowitzers and Mooschesmidts ???
