Harry-Gate - For Christ's Sake Give It A Rest

by Popular Alliance - 17:50 on 13 January 2009

Prince Harry’s faux pas of referring to an army training colleague as a Paki has been blatantly exploited by much of the British News Circus and especially the BBC, as a propaganda tool and the whole situation stinks of hypocrisy amongst all those bleating about it.

Then, today it is sensationalised that Prince Charles has a mate called "Sooty" !!! Well shiver me timbers, lets start World War 3 !!! What the hell are they trying to start here and who the hell cares ?? The guy has been called that for 30 odd years and its his nickname. Get over it !!

Harry's was a 3 year old personal video about his mates, mumbled in army-talk, and we're damn sure that the army trainers used many similar and far cruder terms for the trainee officer during his training. The use of the term "raghead" is uncalled for and insulting, but again in the privacy of a personal video, we have no right to intrude.

The media has unearthed all manner of politically correct bullshit and blatantly exploited it for their own pompous, self-serving purposes. To hell with that. They exist to report the news, not stir trouble and make mountains out of molehills. They complain about video cameras in wheely bins and then do this !! Every chance they have to bash the citizens of this country - in they leap with flow charts, specialist comments - an open house frenzy of bullshit - we've had enought of it !!

I am sick to my back teeth of being told what I can and cannot say in this country. I and most hard working, responsible people in this country do not go out of our way to insult anyone, quite the opposite.

The term Paki is quite simply an abbreviation of Pakistani, its geographical and convenient, in much the same way of Brit (British), Aussie (Australian), Turk, (Turkish) or even more relevant Uzbek (Uzbekistani). We are quite aware that Indians and Pakistanis have long clashed over land and religious matters and that an Indian does not wish to be grouped as a Paki and yet we often hear Pakistanis refer to themselves as Pakis. I'll happily hold open a door for anyone and happily give up my seat on a train or bus for anyone who looks like they need it more than I do, the colour of their skin doesn't even register. I don't need some lop-sided campaign to teach me manners and tolerance. A smile, a please and a thank you are all it takes.

The term Yank might well insult Northern Americans, whilst Frog and Kraut cheekily refer to French & German food types (then we have Jocks, Taffys, Paddys, Limeys etc, Christ we'd have World War 3 on our hands if we all took offense so damn lightly) all of which could be deemed more insulting, but certainly not worth someone being reprimanded with the threat of losing their job. We do of course believe that the adding of insulting adjectives before the term Paki is incorrect, as it would be for any other nationality.

We are also fully aware the there are several derogatory terms for the British and white people in general, used on a very regular basis in Urdu, their references to Americans being even worse. This is hypocracy, they can't have both ways.

In addition, the filth that is preached in numerous mosques, terms us as murdering monsters, the devil incarnate and deserving of death, with us having whores as wives and such immoral virtues that perhaps our land should not be deemed capable of attracting even one migrant – yet still they come. I fail to see how being referred to as a Paki equals that level of abuse, and yet it is usually deemed an invasion of their rights if a reporter uncovers such an instance.

In fact, this one-way flow of outrage is in itself outrageous and racist, in that it targets what one group of people can and cannot say with no reverse path. Its a one-way street.

No-one chastises the Chinese for referring to Westerners as "Gwei Lo" (White Ghost) and to those from the Asian sub-continent as "Char Siu" (Barbecued Pork), both of which could be taken as insulting if there was any mileage to be gained from it or any politically correct corridor of interferers to appeal to.

Let us PLEASE have some balance to this situation, once and for all. Lets us ALL be polite, tolerant and fair, a bit thicker-skinned and bring some common sense into our world, without having the media constantly waving their arms about like maniacs, stirring every little aspect in their sensationalist frenzy. This country bends over backwards to offer opportunity to everyone, so why the endless efforts to ruin that dream.
