UK - Badgered and Battered

by Craig Chapman - 16:08 on 24 November 2008
Well, the pillock with the silly eyebrows has gone and done it, VAT down a snip, no-one interested in spending and a huge tax bill on the horizon !!

We really need 20-30% off our energy bills, to get us all out shopping with confidence, not 34p off something we wouldn't buy for £24.65 anyway !!

The state must have at least 51% ownership of any future power plants upon our shores - too many profits made in the UK are banked elsewhere. We pay 14-18% higher energy prices than France & Germany and higher still, than many other European countries (that we subsidise) - and yet our EU subs have helped to build the power plants they are supplying us from !!

We need to cut the government spending on needless items such as (i) having so many unemployed and sat around doing sod all, and (ii) those on incapacity benefits, many of whom would quite willingly take paid work one day per week on a job share and still get their benefits for 4 days a week (20% saving).

We need, as our policies have long said, (and Vince Cable of the LibDems agrees - its an eye opener to hear of common sense from those guys), to drop income tax for those earning under £15K p/a - in the process, taking away the excuse (and their free ride) that so many jobless cannot afford to work in the UK. This would reduce the number of EU migrants positions too (they work hard certainly, but many bank and invest their wages overseas, bleeding our economy dry). We'd then have a rising income tax scale for higher earners. Bingo, mass relief from the tax burden !!

Now that WOULD kick start an economy without huge, deferred tax bills lying ahead.

Perhaps we could also :-

* drop VAT from British-made, energy-saving products

* lower VAT on British manufactured items with British components

* lower VAT on everyhting pertaining to British farms

Frau Merkel of Germany hit the nail on the head when she initially broke ranks in replying to an EU call of joint recession measures by saying the equivalent of "Sod you lot, we're looking after Germany first."

Our sentiments exactly !!
