Well Said, Mr Osbourne

by Craig Chapman - 08:35 on 17 November 2008

Popular Alliance fully agree with Shadow Chancellor Jeffrey Osbourne that our economy is going to suffer for years to come, thanks to the mass over-borrowing being carried out by Gordon Brown and his short sighted party. He was absolutely right to speak out and warn the nation of the even deeper hole that His Gordoness is digging for us and future generations.

Oh yes, thanks for quoting us too Jeffrey. Some credit for our input would be most welcome next time. Nice tie, by the way.

Labour, especially with Mandleson back onboard, are very good at diverting attention from their own cock-ups. They were certainly taking every advantage of the Russian billionaire situation of which they were equally guilty and have managed to create some mistrust in Tory ranks.

The example being set by our Prime Minister is typical of the very attitude that got us into this mess. His greed to grab higher tax revenues as prices shot up over recent years is exactly the same greed as that of the idiot bankers who carried on lending ridiculous amounts of money to those who have no hope of ever repaying it and to those who traded bonds of debt to spread the idiocy.

One thing that both Labour and the Tories are very careful to not do, is to point their fingers at the voting public. This has to be done also. The number of UK citizens borrowing sums of money that they know they cannot afford, is a big part of the root of this problem. Loans, credit cards, 5-6 times mortgages – we can all say “no” and make a decision to live within our means.

Our government has been guilty of encouraging this, which is their major error in the whole situation. Now Gordon Brown is behaving in a similar manner to many UK citizens caught up in spiralling debt. He is borrowing from elsewhere to pay off the debts lined up on his kitchen table. Who can vote for a such a fool ?

Mr Osbourne pointed out that Britain (contrary to King Gordon’s claims that we are in a good position to ride this out) is actually recognised by financial experts around the world, as the nation with the highest levels of personal and nation debt. The very example of our last 2 leaders has been copied by so many.

Prudence ? You’re having a laugh !!

Of course this will affect our currency and it is right that Mr Osbourne pointed this out too. What is his alternative ? Keep quiet and watch the nation sink even further ? or perhaps allow Gordon Brown to keep on with his trail of lies and hoodwink the sheep-like public into voting him in for another 5 years. There are not enough planes and boats upon these isles to handle the mass exodus, following such a nightmare scenario.

Where the Tories do fall short in all of this, is their lack of sound policies. We know that Labour will adopt any good common sense from other parties that they can get away with and claim the plaudits, but if the Tories want to get anywhere, they have got to start giving us some substance as their up-to-now policy of smiles and stone throwing has been sussed.

Popular Alliance have laid out our policies very clearly :-

  • We need to stop giving away tax payer’s money before any tax cuts can be considered. Mend the leaky bucket before adjusting the inwards flow.

  • People need to start living within their means and stop being greedy

  • We need to consider our own nation’s responsibilities before worrying about those of other nations. We are of no help to anyone as an island of bankrupt fools.

  • Financial regulation and a long sighted economic policy

  • Get the lazy & the cheats working and contributing, instead being a huge burden to us all.

  • Stop the open door immigration policy that has been such a burden upon public spending and services. We actually welcome Labour's Mr Woolas and ask if he is with the wrong party, because they will very quickly hang him out to dry to save their own necks. Watch your back Sir !!
