Mandy Mockery

by Craig Chapman - 09:44 on 05 October 2008

No doubt Dying Flies Of Glee are being performed on the blue shagpile carpets over at Tory Towers this weekend, following the news that Peter “Attention-To-Ethics” Mandleson has been re-recruited by the Labour government, having previously twice been forced to resign over, at best – bad judgment, but seen by most of the electorate as a complete disregard for the responsible position as a government official - he really must feel at home with this lot then !!

We also question Mrs Brown’s reaction to Mandy being “joined at the hip” with her husband. If that doesn’t solve his gulping problem, then nothing will.

Peter Mandleson has twice been caught with his trousers down over very dodgy finances, which Popular Alliance considers to be the perfect CV for the European Union post that he has been carrying out of late, but quite what Gordon Brown has been thinking in inviting him back to front bench British Politics, we can only stab in the dark. Comments in Sunday newspapers don't see this saving Labour but will make their eventual collapse more interesting to watch, its only a shame that they'll be taking us all down with them.

A more interesting appointment has been to the Immigration Desk is Phil Woolas MP, who has previously contributed to our nation’s woeful energy and climate policies. He should be fresh and ready to get stuck in, given that they simply sold our energy business overseas and have invested 0% in the renewable energy sources that our country should have had up and running years ago. Mr Woolas is however, the Labour spokesman who criticised Muslim women for covering their faces and expecting the public to like it, so we hope that he shows a little more conviction in his new role.

Sadiq Khan has been installed in the Communities and Local Government hot seat – just what middle Britain needs, another politically-correct appointment that does not represent 95% of the nation.  Unless you live in an inner city and have endless identity problems, he will have no interest in you.

Gordon Brown has long been considered to be a control freak and arrogantly blind to wishes of those who voted his party into power, if not himself directly. All of the three appointments above suggest very strongly that he still no grasp on what the citizens of the United Kingdom are crying out for on a daily basis.

We note with more dismay that the free school meals lark is to be added to free-everything-else in Scotland. It appears that whoever made this decision has used the same ropey calculator that worked out that Scottish tax payers raise enough revenue between them to allow free universities, free buses, etc. We read that local councils will be responsible for the shortfall in funding for these meals. Hmmmmm, with the burden falling directly on those who actually pay council taxes no doubt – in Surrey !!

Well done Boris Johnson for removing the politically correct wet, Ian Blair from his top role at The Met. The only thing he seems to have got right was the shooting of Jean-Charles de Meneses, which in itself was kind of tragedy the poor guy had left Brazil to avoid, but which left the officers on the scene with no options, given the hasty build up of circumstances and previous 2 weeks of terrorist atrocities in London.

Reports so far suggest that former New York and Los Angeles super cop Bill Bratton is in line for the job. He vows zero-tolerance policing, which has worked wonders in the States. We hope he gets the job and puts the bleating Liberal do-gooders well and truly in their places. We have absolutely no interest in Jacqui Smith’s thoughts on the matter and we look forward to Mr Bratton clashing with Sadiq Khan when he gets stuck into inner city problems. Bring it on !!
