EU Constitutional Referendum In Ireland

by Brian Buxton & Craig Chapman - 12:19 on 09 June 2008

VOTERS OF IRELAND.

You could make June 12th a historic day for Ireland by voting NO and rejecting the Lisbon European Constitution / Treaty.

We in the United Kingdom have been cheated out of our democratic right of a Referendum, in spite of a solemn promise in the government's manifesto at the last General Election.
Popular Alliance and the majority of British people know that all true Irish men and women will not allow their government to give away more of your independence to an unelected Brussels-based Commission.
Grasp this opportunity to assert your rights for Ireland and in doing so, also save the U.K. and many more around Europe. Your determination will not be forgotten.
You are on the world stage and we send you our best wishes. We recommend all interested parties visit www.lisbonvote.com. There are also some informative and also fun You Tubes on the subject :-

One Danish MEP informs us that the Lisbon Treaty is not something that can be passed on its own, as it is simply hundreds of pages of amendments that mean absolutely nothing without being adsorbed into the original rejected constitution. The EU refuse to publish one concise document and it would take literally years to produce. So we ask, how can anyone even consider voting for an organisation that only seeks to confuse and bully them into signing something so vague ?

We also learn today that the European Union's new Head of Justice Jacques Barrot, gained his new £160,000p/a post through not revealing his previous conviction for fraud, resulting in an 8 month suspended sentence that was strangely pardoned by his close pal Jacques Chirac, despite the courts never actually dropping the charges ??? France has also officially warned Ireland of severe economic penalties if they vote against the Treaty today. Again, thoughts of Mugabe, Hussein, Hitler & The Taliban come to mind when the EU starts to show its real face.

The emerald tide against the EU has swung further and further, since former Ireland PM Bertie A'Hearn was removed over corruption charges. Ireland had been a major beneficiary of EU handouts over recent years (I wonder who paid the EU all that money in the first place).
When the new Irish PM Brian Cowen declared that he had not even read the Lisbon Treaty, so many Irish citizens made it their business to do so and obviously many did not like what they saw. Groups of worried citizens started to speak out against the EU and suddenly there were numerous dawn tax raids made against those who spoke out, followed by a long list of snide threats and bullying tactics against farmers amongst other groups.
This is starting to sound more like Zimbabwe than Ireland !!
Opposition grew further as France suggested an EU army. Ireland is, unlike many in England, a country where many people do take time to find out what they are voting for and having already seen the first signs of bullying and trampling, they are refusing to vote for that.
Many Irish are talking about spreading their disatisfaction right across Europe and with MEP elections due next June, there is plenty of time to get themselves organised. Italy risks going nationally bankrupt under the strain being put upon it by the EU and the Irish have not enjoyed seeing first hand, the strong arm tactics of this organisation that also displays many communist traits - take from the rich countries and build up the poorer ones against them.

More EU News sees gambling tycoon Stuart Wheeler taking the Government to court today over its refusal to allow an EU Referendum in the UK. His legal team aim to prove that the refusal of a referendum after being voted into power off the promise of one, is not only immoral but also illegal. The Government have hired the very best team they can find to defend themselves - at the tax payers expense.
Popular Alliance wish Mr Wheeler all the very best and we also suggest that the Labour Party themselves should be paying for the defence of their policies and that it should not be paid for from national funding. It was their promise and their lie, not ours.
Mr Wheeler states that he is not asking whether our nation should adopt the EU Constitution, just whether the Government has to hold a referendum after promising one and being elected on that promise.
Popular Alliance view the Lisbon Treaty as a crafty "upgrade" package, which simply updates the old constitution to include all of the additions that the new one contains. The French writer of the new one, Giscard d'Estaing agrees with that.  Its a bit like buying the cheaper upgrade version to a computer programme at Computer World instead of the brand new full programme. Its gets you to the same place with less expense and less hassle.
Additional information added Tuesday - France has "threatened" Ireland that it will be held to account by Europe if the NO vote wins. Talk about true colours !!

Further comment on Friday (before the vote count is finished). Why do the UK party Liberal Democrats favour our EU membership so much ? They are a party of wets, anti-winning, championing such areas as gay right and being sympathetic to immigrant's woes, etc. Have they not realised how the EU operates ? It's bullying tactics could not be more unliberal, its vote scaring could not be more undemocratic. Have the LibDems actually sat down and discussed exactly what they are backing here ?
