Villagers March In Defiance of Government Arrogance & Lies

by Craig Chapman - 16:30 on 07 June 2008

Over 200 marched through Lichfield today in defiance of the proposed Curborough Eco Town, projected to be built between these villages and Lichfield over the next few years. Many of those shopping stood and nodded thoughtfully as they read the many plackards on show. Common sense goes a very long way.

Lichfield MP Michael Fabricant's presence was enough to ensure TV and newspaper reporters and cameras and he gave a very sensible speach as the march ended at the site of Dr Johnson's Birthplace. The FACT (Fradley Against Curborough NewTown) Group led the way and everyone marching had downloaded and printed off leaflets from www.FACTinfo.co.uk, handing them out to shoppers along the way. Many more signed the petitions that were being handed around.
There were whole families, young and old, even dogs wearing banners with slogans defending their habitual walking routes that are under threat. It gives a good feeling to know that some people in this country care about more than who will sing in the next run of "Oliver" shows.
Simply trying to be at the march's start point for 12.00hrs was enough to demonstrate how Lichfield does not have room for another 20,000+ residents. The few spaces in between the historic streets and buildings barely provide enough parking space for the current population. How are the rest of the city's services are supposed to cope.
The site of the ECO Town is being advertised (at tax payer's expense) by the Labour Government as Brownfield land, around the old aerodrome. The Brownfield land is already occupied by warehouses and factories, with an odd estate of out-of-place mews houses clustered around one end, not really belonging to any community and overshadowed by ugly warehouses. Any other ground for proposed development is Greenland and therefore against the Government's own policy. I guess that those who lie to themselves enough times, can convince themselves of just about anything - step forward Caroline Flint, Housing Minister and the UK's most arrogant person.
As we have stated before and our main website will demonstrate in our Immigration Policy, these ECO Towns are originally an EU Directive and our lapdog government dare not upset those who take our money so happily. No doubt they plan to have their illegal flag flying from the newtown's centre point too, declaring how much they contributed towards the work ? If they were to give (eg) £200 million, then this would simply represent £600 million that us tax payers had already given them, but they get to keep 2/3 of that money.
There is no reason to dig up good farming fields to accomodate those fleeing the ghettos that were once our towns and cities. Many of the warehouse workers would not be able to afford the type of housing presently demonstrated on this land. Presently, many of the warehouses bus-in many Asian and Eastern European workers from Burton and Birmingham. The cost of any onsite housing will see even more vehicles heading in the opposite direction every morning as the managers, directors and lawyers commute to the local cities, to pay for their £300,000-500,000 homes. meanwhile the government makes a mint from the taxation of property sales.
Our world is staring straight into a mass food shortage, we need all the farming land that we can use, and we need a Government that has policies to support those who breed and grow our food. Successive Tory and Labour Governments have been blase to this fact, and despite Mr Fabricant's excellent speach today, his colleagues are not making anywhere enough noise about such important matters. If they do indeed claim to a government in waiting, am I to assume that the "waiting" refers to any reference towards what they intend to do for us ? Presently they stand by and do nothing, as Mr Brown did each time Mr Blair had to try and resolve some problem.
Every single "factor" regarding these Eco Towns (and just about anything else they talk about) that Mr Brown and his Compost Crew brings forward, can be shot down by simple, consistent, common sense - but they just cannot help themselves becoming more and more unpopular every day. Meanwhile, Mr Cameron stands by and whoops for joy, himself having absolutely no policies available, just an endless tirade of kneejerk reactions to whatever our Government has cocked that same day. Is someone party to a bet somewhere along the way, because we can simply not understand how a government in a leading democratic country can get so many things, so very wrong so consistently. Its embarrassing.
We deserve better, our country deserves better and it is none of Europe's business.
Popular Alliance forms common sense polices that compliment each other. That fact alone stand the party head and shoulders above any of the so called leading parties in this country. Mr Obama says he wants change, how nice for him, I'm sure most people would like that. It takes a lot more headscratching to actually offer ways to bring that positive change about.
