East Staffs MP Misguided ???

by Craig Chapman - 09:00 on 22 January 2008
I sent in a copy of the "We Want A Referendum" letter included on a previous blog to my local Labour MP Janet Dean - East Staffordshire.
Her reply suggests one of two scenarios :-
i) She is lying and / or not very intelligent
ii) The rest of Europe is lying and / or not very intelligent.
To quote her reply  "I do not accept that the Reform Treaty is the same as the EU Constitution. The proposed Constitution would have completely replaced all preceding treaties, effectively refounding the EU. The Reform Treaty is an amending treaty, similar to Maastrict, Amsterdam and Nice, though less far reaching. The treaty will be fully scrutinised in Parliament according to our parliamentary tradition."
How she must despair over the misguided plebs over whom she pontificates.
Now to quote the founder of the original EU Constitution. "We had to change the format and name of the Constitution as we knew that would not pass the British people in a referendum. The Treaty will achieve the same goals." This has been backed up by the leaders of at least 11 more EU Nations.
Hmmmmm.....
At least the Europeans are honest, in that they wish to get their hands on our never ending flow of cash.
If indeed Labour has brainwashed its members into believing that giving away an approximate 33% deficit (we're £66 billion down against a total £213 billion handed over since 1973) in our contributions to the EU is good for us, then we must at least feel sorry for Mrs Dean and her colleagues that naughty Gordon has been employing Paul MacKenna.
Otherwise, perhaps we are entitled to ask for her last few years’ wages back as she was elected on the promise of a REFERENDUM !!
To put the effect of the Treaty another way.....
You bought Microsoft Windows Office Version XYZ 4 years ago and cannot afford their newest updates RST Version. You go to Computer World and see that they have an updating package for just £60. Gleefully, you slap it into your CD drive and Hey Presto, you've got XYZ with all the trimmings, without all the outlay and drama of deleting the old package.
That word GLEEFUL really sums up the feeling within the EU at the moment, they've hatched one of Baldrick's cunning plans and hoodwinked the idiots into trusting them - or so they hoped  !!!
That is precisely what this Reform Treaty is doing - simply taking the old Treaty and putting all of the Constitution bits into it to achieve the same result.
