The Shed

An oasis for motorcyclists on any monday, and other days in between.

A fraction of the handtools available.

It is not a large garage, although plans do exist to extend it. It is quite a squeeze if all five of us are there plus occasional guests with up to seven motorcycles and some lawnmowers inside!

It is also packed full of equipment and spanners. Two welders, a compressor, a height adjustable bench, grinder, parts washer, blast cabinet, several drills and all the spanners in all sizing conventions you could hope to find; in fact everything to sort out mechanical devices. And of course a fridge, stereo, television and a radio.

Rod and Allan working hard - there are 5 bikes and a lawnmower here!

Heating is provided by way of "Krakatoa" - a wood-burning stove converted from a gas burner. We are unsure as to whether or not we are being slowly poisoned by the fumes from this stove, but we always feel a bit woosy when we leave. The stove is sometimes used to prepare food. If we are really lucky, Andy will bring up some of Anne's pakora which the stove will heat to several thousand degrees in about ten minutes. We have thought about making soup on the stove but to date have not tried to do so.

The stove is sometimes used to evaporate poorer quality lager and on state occasions Castrol "R" is burned.

Krakatoa - Ignore the cracked glass.

As part of the continuous improvement plan Krakatoa has been upgraded with a new super efficient heat transfer solution to the broken glass. Special ultra thin alloy of negligilbe specific heat capacity has been installed.

The new Krakatoa

Update of 11/1/2017. Krakatoa has been repaired many times and has undergone a major overhaul. We await the first ignition to see if it has been successful.

And some of the guys in action!
