Olave explains "how it all began", in her 1963-64 Journal:-
HOW IT ALL BEGAN
FORMER TOURS and TIMES together:
1919 We met first I think, when we visited Canada very briefly, en route to U.S.A. at the invitation of Juliette Low .
1923 During a more or less official visit to Canada; and we stayed with you & your Mother in Toronto,& then toured across the country.
1924 The WORLD CAMP held at Foxlease; and I THINK you & your Mother came to that.
1926 We all met at Camp Edith Macey, with Juliette Low there,& WORLD DELEGATES came & held a Conference; the formation of the WORLD ASSOCIATION being the ultimate outcome from it, leading to Mrs Warren being elected as one of the first members of the WORLD Committee in 1928.
1930 World Committee meeting at Pax Hill, & you & your Mother_stayed with Miss Ainsworth at Bentley for this, & then moved on to Foxlease for the WORLD Conference there.
1933 When in England for the
or Chinese Exhibition. [This one ?]
1934 I did manage to get you to Pax Hill briefly
1935 We went round the world with Heather & Betty, returning from New Zealand across Canada, & had a very stirring time. Col & Mrs Walton were with us also.
1946 I did a tour of U.S.A. and then right across Canada, accompanied by Dorothy Hooper. Came to your house then
1948 I came to Cooperstown for the World Conference, & you came to New York, & gave me a treat of my first milk shake!
1952 I did a lecture tour with Bridget Ramsden in U.S.A. & then came from West to East & we met a little in Toronto
1953 TOUR with Grace & Harold Wilkinson. Met first in Quebec,& planned route - meeting later at ALBUQUERQUE - after your
1954 journey down with Harold & then had XMAS at Wickenburg, stayed with Doris & V.W. Grubbs, & then on round the South coast, & back up to New York, & saw us off on board ship from there, after four months' on the road, seeing Girl Scouts en route, & making lots of friends in "Maniooki"
1955 Scouts World Jamboree at Niagara on the Lake. Toured across Canada seeing Guides en route, & then on down the West coast to San Francisco Girl Scout Convention. Visited a lot more Girl Scout places in California, & had Xmas in cottage at DEL MAR. In new car "Holly" we
1956 Continued_tour all round the South Coast. I visited MEXICO, for ten days,a nd then joined again at San Antonio, & ended tour in New York
1957 You CAME TO ENGLAND, & we did the Jamboree & Guide events there, in your car "Jet" and enjoyed "Hampers" for 8 months.
1959 I toured round SOUTH American countries, & you collected me, with "Maleeta", at Los Angeles, & we toured up the West coast, Idaho, Montana, etc. U.S.A. Boy Scout conference at Ann Arbor, & back to Toronto in late summer.
1961 "P.B." & Joan Nevill came & tour all changed by my "hospitalisation" in P.E.I. All toured across U.S.A. & had Xmas with Henry & Lola Lockwood at Pasadena.
1962 Started at dawn with Rose Parade at Pasadena & staying with Doris & V.W. Continued tour to Dallas. We flew from there to Mexico, and then re-joined at San Antonio. Continued tour right round via Savannah, etc & New York and back home to Toronto. I then did quick flying trip across Canada, seeing Guides, & then back to Toronto & on to Montreal and left there in April.
1963 AND HERE WE ARE AGAIN – HOORAY !
