Who was Carl?

Carl Pepler was born on 27th May 1890 in Toronto, Canada, the daughter of Harry Dorman Warren (1861–1909) and his wife Sarah Trumbull van Lennops (born 1863) - that surname varies from official record to official record, the handwriting open to interpretation.

She was baptised as Carolyn Warren, but was always(?) known as Carl. 

She was the middle child, with an elder brother Trumbull, who was killed aged 29 in France in WW1, and an elder sister, and she had two younger brothers.

Her father died when Carl was 19.

In 1917, aged 27, Carl married Grant Pepler, and they had two daughters.

Just six years later, in 1923, her husband died aged only 31.
