Left Toronto, and running innto bad snow storm, decided to telephone Elaine Clerk, and stop the night with her there at ROCHESTER.

AT THE END OF THE RALLY in the big City Auditorium the Girl Scouts and their Leaders queued up to shake hands. A bunch of Seniors went by, and one of them handed Olave an envelope.
There was not time then for her to open it, so she stuffed it into her pocket, and only opened - and read its contents - later when we got back to Sunset Island.
And this is what it said

Our World Chief Guide
Tonight I have a gift for you; but it is not a gift that I can weigh or measure, or encompass, for it is not a tangible one.
The gift I now give to you is no more than a Senior Girl Scout's commitment to all that Scouting represents.
It is her promise that she will devote her life to serving girls who ere
yet to come.
And it is her earnest hope that this will serve as a "thank you" to all the people who helped to give one little girl the many lasting joys of Scouting.
So this is my promise; this is my gift; this is my love.
And this will be my ambition:
to spread not only the ideals of Guiding and Scouting throughout the world, but to help to make it possible for every girl who wants Guiding or Scouting to join a Troop or a Pack or a Company near her home, to give every girl who will accept the Promise and Laws the opportunity and the privilege of being able to call herself a Guide or a Scout.
I am proud of my membership in the Girl Scouts, and I believe in Scouting
