MR B NELSON & MISS MARION DAKIN

A member of Broadhurst's table tennis team in the Mid Cheshire League, Mr. Brian Nelson, younger son of the late Mr. F J Nelson and Mrs. S Nelson, 22 East Avenue, Rudheath, and Miss Marion Dakin, eldest daughter of Mr & Mrs. J C Dakin, 57 West Avenue, Rudheath, were married at Northwich parish church on Saturday. Canon A W Maitland-Wood officiated and Mr. W H Horrocks was the organist.

The bride given away by her father wore a full-length net over the satin dress with a French embroidered veil and orange blossom and diamante headdress. Her only other jewelry was a diamante necklace and she carried a bouquet of red roses.

Mrs. Vera Burrows's bridegroom's sister was the matron of honour and miss Mavis Johnson, Lynda Dakin, and Irene Norman were the bridesmaids. Mrs. Burrows chose a lavender taffeta dress and the bridesmaids were in apple green and lemon taffeta. All carried bouquets of anemones. Mr. Joseph Rigby was the best man.

Seventy guests attended the reception at the Railway hotel. The bride is a confectionary packer at Messrs Broadhurst & Co (Gadbrook) and the bridegroom is a fitter at Wallerscote Works of I.C.I (Alkali) Ltd.

MARIAN NELSON

Marian Nelson, on Monday 8th March 2010, peacefully in Leighton hospital after a long illness, aged 75 years. Devoted wife of Brian, much loved mum of Colin and Clive, and sadly missed mother in law, Nan and sister. Funeral service at St Helen's, Witton, Northwich on Wednesday 17th March at 10 am, followed by interment at Rudheath cemetery. Family flowers only, please.

THE DAKINS

A brief look at the Dakin family.

Marian Dakin was born on the 29th March 1934 in Warrington, Lancashire. Her father James Christopher Dakin (B.1907) was a driver with Broadhurst Cakes and Biscuits and when the company relocated to Northwich in the early 1930's the Family moved to 57 West Avenue, Rudheath.

James married Lillian Weaver (B. 1910) at St Ann's Parish Church, Warrington on the 5th June 1932, they had 4 children, Marian (my mother), James, John, and Linda.

Marian married Brian Nelson (B. 21/1/1930 at St Helen's Church, Witton, Northwich on the 12th March 1955 and they had 2 children, Colin (my Brother) (B.1/12/1955) and Clive (B.2/9/1960).
