Four League Titles In A Row 2007 – 2010
Strangely the game, good as it was, seemed immaterial. The main event came after it when Kenny Maciver the Chairman of the Lewis and Harris Football Association presented Lochs captain David Macmillan with the League title trophy that is now on a shelf at Sgoil nan Loch for the fourth consecutive year. As regular as the swarms of midges over these years have been Lochs victories in the League and in fact over the last four seasons they have lost only twice, on both occasions to Back. The celebrations continued at the North Lochs Community Centre where over 100 people gathered to enjoy refreshments, take shelter from the midges and mark an historic event in the Club’s history. Only United (1958-1962:5 wins), Athletic (1963-1966: 4 wins), and Ness (1984-1987 and 1989-1992: both 4 wins) have achieved four consecutive League title wins since the expansion of the League in 1937. This puts the Lochs achievement in perspective.
The club extends its appreciation for another magnificent season to all the players and to Manager Robbie Mackenzie. Robbie took over the mantle of Kenny Tank, after Ally Mackenzie’s successful season as manager in 2008, and has led the team to five major trophies including the last two of the four in a row in the League. He has maintained the level of success whilst blooding young players who hopefully will be the future of the club. Being a manager at amateur level is not an easy task. You have to be a “Jack of all Trades” as you keep your side going through the five months of the season. We all owe Robbie a great deal for his energy, enthusiasm and commitment to Lochs Football Club over the last two seasons.
Well done Lochs. Looking forward to 2011 already.

Lochs Clinch Title with Seven Goal Romp Over United at Goathill
Lochs ensured it was four League titles in a row with a comfortable 7-0 win over United at Goathill. Peter Mackenzie continued his good goal scoring form by netting two more in the first half. These were added to by strikes from Lava and Nommie to make it 4-0 by the break. Andy, David Macmillan and Stoon added three more in the second half to ensure a comfortable win.
Moldova Lewis Cup Final Lochs won the Lewis Cup last Friday night to lift the trophy for the 10th time in the club’s history. This was their 8th win in 9 seasons and their 9th final in 10 years an incredible record. Having gone two goals down to Aths Lochs fought back to within one by half time from a Peter Mackenzie penalty and a second half Lava goal took the match to extra time. Lava was on the spot again to head home the winner in extra time and demonstrate Lochs’ “never say die” attitude.
Congratulations to the team on their second cup final win of the season.

Lochs Overcome Point and a Hurricane
On a night when most people wouldn’t risk flying a kite, Lochs took the biggest risk of all. They put their title challenge on the line against Point in a game dominated by a gale force wind on which anything could have happened. Graeme Mackenzie was suspended for this fixture but Robbie had an able deputy in Calum “Stoon” Macleod who was home on holiday and took over in the centre of defence.
With the wind blowing directly along the length of the pitch Lochs had its advantage in the first half. They bombarded the Point goal but with Alex Wright in his usual excellent form they found it difficult to make a break through in the early stages. The wind was so strong that goal kicks often went out for corners and a ball that went beyond the goal was missing for an undue length of time. It took Lochs about 25mins to break the deadlock. The two Peter Mackenzie’s went for the same ball which ended up in the Point net but Peter “Calum Murdo” is claiming it as his goal. A brace from Lava and another from Robert Mackenzie made it 4-0 by half time a comfortable lead under normal circumstances but these were far from normal circumstances.
Into the second half and Lochs had to face the gale force wind that battered Point for 45mins. Point tried to launch a few shots towards the Lochs’ goal but could not find the target. Lochs used all their experience to keep possession with an excellent display of short passing, trying to keep the ball on the deck and playing a high line to limit the area in which Point played. Further goals came from Don Lava and Craig Maclean to make the final tally 6-0 to Lochs.
The hardy bunch of fans who turned up to watch Lochs move closer to the League title are to be congratulated as are the four ball boys, Niall Houston, Iain Scott, Alan Farrell and David Macleod without whom the game could not have been played as they spent the night retrieving footballs from the school end of the pitch.

Lochs Exit Highland Amateur at Semi Final Stage
Lochs travelled to Culbokie last Saturday to take on Golspie Stafford in the semi final of the Highland Amateur Cup. The prize for the victor was a final against six time winners Pentland United. Lochs had beaten Golspie on their way to lifting the trophy in 2003 and eight of the players in Saturday’s game played for the Maroons in 2003. This was Lochs’ 5th Highland Amateur Cup semi/final in eight years, an excellent level of consistency.
