** The Club Competitions are now played and you can see the results here.
OFFICIAL OPENING DAY
The club's official opening day is the 22nd April at 1.30pm and everyone is welcome old and new to meet the members and try your hand on the green. (Flat shoes will need to be worn for this) Come and enjoy the facilities and see what we have to offer, youngsters are welcome and as you can see we have policies and personnel in place to assure their safety. Refreshments are available and it is a fun afternoon to start the season.
It is with much sadness that we record the passing in March this year of Beryl Jenkins after a short illness. A service was held at Aberystwyth Crematorium on the 28th March which was well attended by family and friends alike with Bowlers coming from all over Wales to pay their respects. Members of the club and readers of this sites news page will know that 2016 was a very remarkable year for Beryl which began with her inaugeration as President of the Welsh Womens Bowling Association and culminated in her hosting the WWBA finals at our club. She will be much missed by all her friends and fellow bowlers
The club recently held its final events of the year with the Annual Dinner & Trophy night proving its usual success and with the Porth once again providing good food and a convivial atmosphere. We followed this in November with our AGM at which new Officers & Committee Members were voted in. The new executive committee members details can now be found on the Who's Who page.
This correspondent would like to wish all members and visitors to this site a very happy Christmas and properous New Year - we open again in April 2017 and it would be our pleasure to see you all on the green.
W.W.B.A. Finals Weekend
On the 3rd & 4th of September Llandysul had the honour to host the semi-finals and finals of the Welsh Womens Competitions. This honour was bought to Llandysul through the current WWBA President Mrs Beryl Jenkins a life member of the club. Unfortunately the weather was unkind and torrential rain flooded the green on the Saturday. By about 2.00pm it was obvious no play would be possible that day, however undaunted those that stayed on had a good afternoon meeting up with friends from all over Wales. On the Sunday play got underway at 9.30am with the club providing bacon rolls etc., for those stalwarts who came to see the off. A full days play enabled some of the lost finals to be held leaving only three to be played when they could be arranged. The two days were very well attended and all involved voted it a great showpiece for the club.
Annual Men Vs Women Trophy
The event was held On Thursday Aug 25th and in pouring rain. However, the men after a two year loan of the trophy to the ladies took back possession of it this time. Despite the weather a good evening was enjoyed by all who took part and the amount raised with the proceeds going to Breast Cancer Now! this year was £211.00.
** MORE SUCCESS FOR THE LADIES
On Saturday 20th August the Llandysul Pair of Sally Davies & Delyth Williams won the CBMC (Ceredigion County) Pairs competition held in Aberystwyth. Well done to them, our ladies section goes from strength to strength.
