Last Saturday we travelled to Fort William to take part in the 1st Shinty Nationals with our P7 & Under team. It was a long drive but the players were ready and looking forward to playing when we arrived. Our first game was against Banavie so it was tough from the start. The match was bravely fought by our youngsters and with some excellent saves by goalie Fraser we lost by only one goal. We also played teams from Oban, Skye, Bute, Central and Wester Ross. We won one of our matches but lost the others. However we did score some great goals, two against Skye, two against, Col Glen and one against Oban. After the heats we stayed to watch the final stages take place. The overall winners were Banavaie, with St Columbas from Oban runners -up, both these teams were in our section. At the prizegiving ceremony we were called up to receive the Fair Play Award for good sportmanship, a true testiment to the great behaviour and attitude of our youngsters. It was a long drive home on Saturday night but very worthwhile. Well done to all the players who took part and a big thanks to the parents who helped transport the kids down.
