Kinlochbervie Camanachd (Est. 2007) is the junior and senior shinty teams from Kinlochbervie High School and its associated primary schools.
As part of Highland 2007 "The Highland Promise", our pupils voted to spend some of our allocation on learning shinty. The inaugral training session took place in June 2007 with coaches Heather MacNeil, PE and parent Duncan Clark. The sessions are open to pupils from P5 to S6 and run on a weekly basis with an average of 30 pupils attending. A real success story!
In December 2007, we were awarded a grant of £3500 from the Lottery's "Awards for All" programme (picture above).  The grant has been spent on junior and senior kits, including jackets, safety equipment, first aid equipment and new shinty camans and balls.
Our teams are part of the "Far North League" with teams from Schools in Bettyhill, Thurso and Wick. We have also travelled to Perth, Drumnadrochit and Stornoway to take part in shinty events. In our first year of shinty our teams took three trophies and one winners certificate back to the school and have gained valuable match experience. Now a few years on we are still going strong, still travelling far and wide, our youngsters still succeeding but more importantly still playing and enjoying Shinty.
We look forward to lots more shinty and a bright future!
