A Shinty Mud Bath!
13 March 2009

Kinlochbervie Camanachd 1 - 1 Farr High School

Well done to all the brave young players from both teams who turned out on a cold, wet and windy day to play in the second Sutherland shinty derby. KLB were at home to Farr and looked to be taking advantage of the home crowd's support in the first half. The conditions were awful but the KLB team showed excellent skill in keeping the ball moving on the somewhat soggy pitch. Their continuous pressure paid off when Oliver Taveras scored the opening goal, from a pass from Mark Dorrian. The shinty played by all the KLB team players showed excellent ball skills, hitting and sheer determination. The first half drew to a close with KLB still 1-0 up. After a brief break the teams took to the field again with Farr desperate to get back into the game. They certainly managed to put pressure on the KLB side, but with some excellent defending and also great goal keeping from Scott Paterson they really had to fight for their equaliser which was scored by Farr player, Andrew Henderson. The match drew to a close with the scores remaining tied and 24 soggy, muddy players trooping off the pitch to shake hands! A big thanks to Kyle for refereeing the match with no forward notice and to all the support from the spectators who braved the weather to watch the first shinty game ever played in Scourie.
