KLB v Farr
29 November 2008

On Saturday a group of 18 players and 4 adults made the trek along the north coast in high spirits but freezing weather conditions which dipped to -6 at some points!  A very cold, frosty and slippery pitch in Bettyhill awaited us but we got on with it, shinty players are tough you know!  Captain Taylor MacKay took the throw up just after noon and within a few minutes we were 1-0 up thanks to a lovely little shot from Mark Dorrian.  Unfortunately things didn't go our way for the rest of the half due to a combination of the Farr Captain making a big impact on his team after his arrival to the game and Dodie being out injured, Nathan getting an ankle knock 2 minutes in and Taylor being ill!  We fought on though and had some very near misses from Connor, Mark, Taylor and Oliver.  The first half ended 4-1 thanks to some good goal keeping from Struan and Mark MacD and excellent defending from Sophie and Iain.  We started the 2nd half full of energy again and got a goal back through Iain who had swapped with Oliver to become a forward rather than a defender.  This gave us some pride back and although the game deservedly ended 7-2 in favour of Farr, it could have ended much higher if it hadn't been for some good goal keeping from Scott and some fantastic defending from Sophie and Oliver.  The whole team worked well together and should be proud of themselves, the effort they put in and for staying positive despite the freezing weather!  Hopefully come the return leg in February the score line will be in KLBs favour!
