Kay will explain to you as soon as you meet her that she is a mental health patient and has been for much of her life.
A Gift
Money is a worldly blessing,
Health a gift from God.
Without good health
There is no wealth.
Please grant me God
Good health
Not wealth.

A very intelligent, articulate woman, Kay has spent a long time fighting mental illness and now deals with both mental and physical disabilities admirably. She has raised three sons to adulthood and they mean the world to her, as do her grandchildren.
A Stranger
1,2,3 sons
Filled my life.
They leftone by one,
And with each parting
A void opened up in me.
Their new worlds
Full with others,
Time too precious.
Alone.
A stranger,
I wait.

Kays writing reflects the world she lives in and her struggles to come to terms with this world in the way that she sees it. Her writings give an insight into her mind and makes one reflect on ones own mental and physical health, as perhaps in her innocence Kay can bring to the surface thoughts that trouble many, but are never spoken about.
Birth of womanhood
In youth, the night long I bled,
Ignorant and frightened,
I believed I would die
From the loss of life's blood red.

As Kay reminded me, most subtly, when I campaigned for a voice for the people.
"Where is my voice", she asked me.
Is Kay to be brushed under the carpet with everything else in this life that should not be talked about?
No Kay, you have a voice, it is a loud voice and it is a good voice and with the help of a few friends you now have a platform for that voice. I know you will use it well.
Please
Is there anybody out there
Who understands.
Is there anybody out there
Who knows.
If so,
Are you really there.
Have you felt like I feel.
Do people behave
As if they care.
Are you alone.
Do you wish you could
Leave your place.
Do you feel empty
As if
There is nothing left
To fight with.
He says.'Fight back'.
Doesn't it make you tired.
Wouldn't it be nice
If for once
Someone, anyone
Would reach out
And put their arms around you.
Even one day maybe
Fight for you
Before it's too late.

One of the remarkable things about Kay is that while she has fought her own demons she has strived to help others who may be affected as she has been herself. Kay is a champion for all mental health patients and can relate deep, insightful feelings, often heartbreaking to read, yet inspiring to many people.
Kay is raw talent, a mental health patient who spends her life trying to help others like herself who can find themselves racked with emotions so profound that to find an outlet seems beyond their reach.
Kay feels strongly for those not given the treatment they need and for people who fight for causes.
Kays work gives an insight into her life which is awe inspiring to those who read her writings both prose and poetry. Watch her world unfold, sometimes beautiful and sometiimes so harrowing it hurts the reader, but joy shines through at the oddest times and brings a smile into the gloom of the suffering of many people, every one of whom Kay wants to help.
