MATCH REPORTS

V RAF LOSSIEMOUTH 4TH APRIL 2009

by Mike Pollard - Co-manager - 14:16 on 07 April 2009
RAF Lossiemouth v Inverness City
Saturday 4th April 2009

City keep winning

On a blistering cold wet day Inverness city kept their title hopes alive with a 5-1 victory over RAF Lossiemouth.

Pollard says “You could see how hungry the boy’s are with the performance in the first 25 minutes. Then we seemed to take our foot of the gas which could have back fired on us. What we really need to work on with next weeks massive game in mind is how to finish teams off and be a little more ruthless.”

Pollard finished by saying “ With only four more games to go in the league next weeks clash between the top two will probably decide who will take the title. Due to the circumstances we have to play our home game at Burghead so we have to put a bus on for supporters to travel the 40 miles to support us.”

City started very brightly with just 7 minutes gone Sanderson header found Turner who calmly slotted the ball in to the goal to put the visitors ahead.

The travelling support only had to 9 more minutes to wait to witness the best move of the game when Sanderson headed back for Colin Mason to play a delightful through ball for Turner to run on to and claim his second.

Turner was starting to look unstoppable and on the 25 minute he found his hat-ttrick when he rounded the keeper to score his third.

This is where City seemed to stop working and this let the airmen back in to the game. With just 3 minutes since the last goal the airmen broke down city’s right flank and whipped a cross in to the box only to see the unlucky MacDonald slide the ball in to his own net.

The second half wasn’t as convincing as the score line reflex. The RAF side put in a second performance which doesn’t justifies their league position.

City had to wait until the 85 minute to find the target when great run by Kevin Fraser played in young Murdoch who cut the ball back for Colin Mason to blast the ball in to net.

2 minutes later a Miller free kick was met by one of the airmen who managed to turn it in to his own net to give City the victory.

Pollard said “If any supporters are interested in coming to the  big game against New Elgin at Burghead please go to our website and let us know.”
