Pollard said “All we can do now is concentrate on finishing on a high a then with a bit of luck New Elgin slip up away to Deveronside. We have played there twice this season and found it a hard place to get a result.”
Pollard added “Full praise has to be given to the boys for bouncing back after our last defeat and for putting in a performance as good as they did. I have to say how delighted I am for young Danny Murdoch who has worked so hard this year to prove he’s ready for the challenge of Junior Football. His hat-trick was well deserved and he took all three goals well”
City started the game with the intentions of showing they meant business. They started with such a high tempo they managed to carve out a few chances in the first few minutes. They didn’t have to wait long when on the 10 minute mark Murdoch hit a free kick in to the bottom left corner to put City in the lead.
Murdoch claimed his second on the 20th minute when he whipped in another free kick out on the right hand touch line only to see it sale in to the Bughead goal.
The second half started in similar fashion and with only 2 minutes gone Murdoch met a cross from McCraw to head City 3 goals ahead.
On the 67th minute Sanderson added to his impressive tally this season by netting City’s 4th.
Burghead are well known for not giving up and on the 75th minute a mistake by City’s defence let in Burghead to claim their only goal of the game.
With City needing the goal difference of 4 goals their outstanding captain Colin Mason took it on him self to finish of a great run by rounding the keeper and scoring City’s 5th and final goal.
