MATCH REPORTS

V BISHOPMILL UTD 21ST MARCH 2009

by Mike Pollard - Co-manager - 13:27 on 23 March 2009

Inverness City v Bishopmill Utd

Saturday 21st March 2009

Venue:  Grant Street Park, Inverness

With the uncertain future of Inverness City, this in a way was a ‘win or die’ game.

Co-manager Pollard said “We have all had an unforgettable week but we need to concentrate on the main thing which is football.  This at the end of the day wasn’t our best performance but at least we have the three points.”  He added “You could see that the boys minds weren’t on it 100% but we need to work on this and become 100% focussed.  To think we were once 14 points behind and we’ve pulled it back to just 5 points with a game in hand says a lot about the squad.”

The first half didn’t present many memorable chances but City did manage to find the net when bang on the 45th minute a poor clearance found Kevin Fraser on the edge of the box who half volleyed the ball in to the bottom corner of the Bishopmill goal.

The second half wasn’t much different to the first but the introduction of Keith Mason at half time did being some life to City’s performance.  It was only the first minute in the second half when a great run by Mason slipped the ball through for Sanderson to put City 2-0 ahead.  On the 52nd minute Turner was unlucky not to score from a great free-kick which was well saved.  The game finished 2-0 to City and the remarkable journey continues.

Team:  Young, MacDonald, Allan, D Beaton, K Fraser, Miller (Murdoch,80), Maclennan, J Fraser, McNiven (K Mason, 45), Sanderson, Turner (McCraw, 70).

Subs not used: Mapplebeck, Pollard
