Co-manager Pollard said “We came away with little to show with the amount of possession we had. With the last 11 games of the season remaining we need to show a lot more heart and desire. This was sadly missing in quite a lot of our players.”
Pollard also added “We are lucky most of the other results went our way but I do feel if we are going to make real challenge for the league we will really need to step things up. The bonus side of things is a lot of other teams are going to find it hard to get a result at Fochabers.”
Pollard finished by saying “We have another hard game away to Burghead next week who like most of the teams in this league would love to put one over us. This means the boys now need to step up to the challenge.”
The game started well for the visiting City side when on the 13th minute Turner hit a free kick on the edge of the box only to take a huge deflection of a Fochabers defender to put city in the lead.
City saw plenty of the ball and were looking in command but they had to wait till the 28th minute when the advancing Jamie Fraser only managed to head the ball over the bar.
The battling Fochabers side weren’t ready to roll over and on the 40th minute City’s defence fell asleep when a superb cross found an unmarked forward at the back post who smashed it home to equalise.
The second half became a scrappy occasion for both sides but on the 75th minute Jamie Fraser fantastically took the cross down and turned to fire the ball in to the back of the net. For some reason the goal was disallowed to the City’s supporters disbelief.
Things got even worse for City when two minutes later City should have been awarded a free kick but instead Fochabers broke away and made no mistake in making the score 2-1 to the home side.
With just one minute of normal time remaining Turner broke through but was taken down on the edge of the Fochabers box. Miller stepped up to slot the ball into the bottom left hand corner to earn City a draw.
