CITY BACK ON TRACK AS BISHOPMILL FEEL BACKLASH
INVERNESS City co manager Mike Pollard dedicated his side's impressive 3-0 win over Bishopmill Utd at the weekend to the supporters.
The frustration City's management team felt following last weekend's heavy home defeat to Nairn St Ninians was replaced by elation as the home side produced a much improved display, to the delight of the home support.
Pollard said: "We owed our supporters a good display and I think we delivered this time. We had to approach things from a different angle and this seems to have worked.
"We looked a far more organised outfit and were defensively much stronger. It was important that we got back to winning ways but we must carry this onto our next game against Fochabers."
City began the match like a team with a point to prove and McCraw found himself unmarked inside the Bishopmill box in the opening minutes, however he pulled his shot wide.
The home side continued to pin their opponents back and in 12 minutes Stuart Pearce won City a free kick on the edge of the area. Gary Miller opted to leave the freekick duties to Michael Turner on this occasion, but unfortunately his effort went sailing over.
But the home fans only had to wait six more minutes for the deadlock to be broken. A superb ball from Colin Mason found his brother Keith who calmly slotted under the advancing Bishopmill keeper to open the scoring.
After the break Bishopmill started creeping back into the match. A thunderous drive from long range forced Young in the City goal to make a world class save which prompted wild applause from the home support.
A mix up in the Bishopmill defence left Turner free inside the area on the 55 minute mark and he wasted no time in firing home his side's second.
The visitors almost grabbed a goal in 65 minutes but a combination of City's post and another top save from Young denied them. Bishopmill were leaving gaps at the back in a bid to haul themselves into the match and they were caught out for a third time in 85 minutes. Turner sent Stevie Sanderson through on goal and he coolly chipped the keeper to gift wrap the points.
