What is Homeopathy?
The word literally means 'same suffering' and the healing process works on the principle of 'like cures like'.
A homeopathic remedy is made from tiny amounts of a substance which in a large (material) dose would cause the symptoms it is used to treat.
For example, if peeling an onion makes your eyes sting and water, then a remedy made from onion (Allium Cepa) will help with similar symptoms such as in hay fever or colds. If a bee sting causes hot red throbbing swelling, then a remedy made from the bee sting (Apis Mellifica) can be used to treat not only bee stings but many other conditions with similar symptoms such as water retention, anaphylactic shock, and swollen painful joints.
While scientists may argue that the infinitessimally small doses in homeopathic remedies cannot make any difference, there is a growing scientific body of evidence to the contrary, as well as nearly 200 years of increasingly well documented anecdotal evidence.
Because the remedies contain no toxins or addictive substances they are safe for pregnant and nursing mothers, babies, the elderly and dying, and they can be used alongside allopathic (prescribed by doctors) drugs, or alone.
