Heaton United FC
Heaton United train at Scotchman ACC and their pitch is at Ladyhill Park.
They have a squad of over 40 registered players and are sponsored by the National Lotteries Board and Sport for All, as well as Langtry-Langton Architects of Bradford.
The club is of mixed race and they have a great team spirit.
Several of the players play at County Amateur level. United have strengthened the team in all departments since joining the Bradford Sunday Alliance.
They won the division 4A championship and reached the quarter-finals of the Amateur Cup and District FA Sunday Cup in their first season.
Last season they reached the final of the Amateur Cup and won the division 3B title.
Coach Mohammed Arif has been credited with much of the hard work which has gone into making the team a success.
Even before last season kicked off officially the club was winning trophies.
They lifted the pre-season Girlington and Manningham Cup seven-a-side competition.
With the Lottery grant the club has been able to buy equipment, clothing and accessories needed to run the footballing side efficiently.
United believe that the foundations have been laid for future seasons and they are looking to sign some new players to prepare for the challenge of playing in a higher division.
Their recent success have given them confidence and they would like to maintain their present rate of progress and clinch a third successive title this season. Division 2A should be a sterner test of their abilities but the ambition should drive them on.
Heaton Tennis & Squash Club
Heaton Tennis & Squash Club in Bradford is a private members club run by the members with full time professional staff for the benefit of the members. We are not owned by any person or company and hence any surpluses we achieve are redirected back into the facilities. Since the mid 1980’s we have invested close to a million pounds and we are the premier tennis & squash club in Bradford.
Our club has a great tradition of exciting sporting achievements with a fun and friendly social scene for all ages. We were established in 1927 and back then our illustrious club hosted such players as Bunny Austin, Fred Perry and A.J. Smith who not only played at Wimbledon, but took a set off Jan Borota using a borrowed racket!
