Alice, Miss Alice - Alice Ann Baird, Headmistress of St James's School, Malvern, which had been founded by her and her sister Katrine, see the bottm of this Page. She was born in Q4 1871 in the Registration district of St. George's. Hanover Sq. London, and died Q3 1959 in Malvern. In 1956 she compiled a book of pupil's reminiscences "I Was There - St.James's, West Malvern".
Annie - Annie Schofield had been in the employ of the family for ages - she had originally been employed as a young girl to be nursemaid to Heather's mother.

Jane Thornewill - was at St. James's school with Heather and Betty. She & Betty met again in 2000 at Elliscombe Park, Betty's last home. Curiously (and irrelevantly), she was a remote cousin of Gervas's mother.
JamRoll - A Rolls Royce car presented to B-P at the 1929 Jamboree by the Boy Scouts of the World, who each contributed a penny. At that time, a common snack was a "jam roll" which cost a penny. The Car was a Rolls, and was presented at the Jamboree.
Jority - Heather's pony.
Juno - a car owned by the family.

Ro, Rosie Clay - Rosemary, the only child of Gervas's father's brother Ernest Clay; she was a bridesmaid at Betty's wedding.
Rosalind Honor de Renzy Martin - a school friend who was a bridesmaid at Betty's wedding. in 1937 she accompanied Heather & Heather's parents to India as secretary. In December, 1941, she was Secretary of the Girl Guide Relief Committee. Rosalind was born in Reigate in Q2 1913, the daughter of Edward A de Renzy Martin and Winifred G A nee Hull, who were married in Reigate Q2 1912. Her sister Frances E was born there in Q1 1916. Rosalind married Peter H Speck there in Q3 1945. They had Nicola A in Q4 1946 and Martin H in Q2 1959, both in Reigate.
