Rachel Honor Martin Soames

was a fourth cousin of Heather & Betty. 

Rachel was born in Colchester, Q4 1914,the only child of
Harold Martin Soames and Colleen Ruth Addinsell, who were married.in Q4 1913 in St George's Hanover Sq.. 

Harold Martin Soames was a Lt. in the 20th Hussars; he was, k.i.a. 23 Aug 1914, buried HAUTRAGE MILITARY CEMETERY IV. A. 6. Belgium.

Rachel was married in Q1 1937 at Westminster..to  Michael Spencer Gosling, who was born on 30 Jan 1912.

They had four children :-

Gillian R  born in Halstead in Q1 1938
Jennifer A   born in  Colchester in Q3 1939
Christopher M born in Halstead in Q3 1942
Richard M born in Halstead in Q4 1944

Michael died in Braintree in Q4 1979.

Rachel died on 18th Jan 2014 :-

GOSLING RACHEL HONOR MARTIN (nee Soames) On January 18, in her 100th year died peacefully with her family around her. Widow of Mike, never to be forgotten by Gillian, Jennifer, Christopher, Martin, their families and her nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She will be remembered by so many for her remarkable achievements. Private family cremation followed by a service of Celebration of her Life at 2.45 p.m., St. John the Baptist Church, Little Maplestead C09 2SL on Monday, February 3. Donations if desired in aid of the Animal Health Trust and/or The Friends of The Round Church may be sent to Kate Brew, Daniel Robinson and Sons, 52 Trinity Street, Halstead, Essex C09 1GB.
