Doctors and nurses in the Lothians have a new patient - but it's one with a difference  – a Sim Man.

The £30,000 state-of-the-art mannequin, is set to revolutionise the way emergency training is delivered to their lifesaving response teams, junior doctors and medical students.

The Sim Man can be programmed to display the symptoms of almost any medical condition or emergency.    Including heart attacks and a range of other cardiac conditions.
Inexperienced medics will be expected to treat the Sim Man just as if he was a living patient, including checking his pulse, breathing and how dilated his pupils are, and initiating appropriate treatment in a timely fashion.
