Inverness Bravehearts are a Cardiac Support Group based in Inverness. They meet most Wednesdays for an exercise session led by trained health professional at the Gym Hall, Millburn Academy, Diriebught Road, Inverness.

Sir John Dewar
Sir John Dewar, was so appalled by the level of healthcare provision in the Highlands that he and a few others formed the Highlands and Islands Medical Service, 36 years before the introduction of the NHS in 1948.

Sir John Dewar - Report
The actual 1912 'Report of the Highlands and Islands Medical Service Committee' or the Dewar Report as it was better known. It paints a vivid description of the desperate state of medical provision in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland.

Organ donation
I had a lovely, and thought provoking e-mail from our very own Maureen Semple. Maureen is celebrating the 7th anniversary of her heart transplant, and in her mail Maureen provides an eloquent reason why even those of us with cardiac conditions should give serious consideration to registering to become an organ donor. So please, I beg you all, talk it over with your family and if you can see it in your heart register to become an organ donor, and if you can, get them to sign up too. It can all be done on-line, and only takes a few seconds of your time, but could make all the difference in the world to someone.
