Go To Work On An Egg

by John - 11:20 on 17 November 2011

“Go to work on an egg”, this was the famous advertising slogan used by the Egg Marketing Board in the early 1960s.
People were urged to start their day with an egg, now it turns out that this may in fact be sound scientific advice.

Some four decades on, new research by scientists at Cambridge University has discovered that egg proteins actually do help people stay awake and alert during the working day.
Those early campaigners were right.

The Cambridge University findings were published in the journal Neuron.

... and for the ultimate in egg quality - keep a few hens.  Even the smallest of gardens provides adequate space for a couple of hens.    There is nothing that surpasses a newly laid egg in appearance and taste.

My favourite hen - we call her 'Quaffle'
