Happy Diwali

by John - 23:10 on 23 October 2011

Shubh Deepawali

Wednesday 26th October is the festival of Diwali - The Festival of Lights.
Celebrated by Hindus Sikhs and Jains, it proclaims the victory of
light over darkness; of good over evil.   If you can imagine all that is the very best of what is Christmas, New Year and a Harvest Festival rolled into one, then you have an approximation of the happy and wonderfully chaotic family event that is Diwali.

Just as in any other home at a time of celebration, in an Indian home at Diwali, food is very much at the centre of the celebrations.   In any Indian home you will find at Diwali a vast cornucopia of exquisite dishes and plates brimming with delicious treats.
This is the perfect time to sample the huge variety found in
Indian cuisine, whether you celebrate Diwali or not, and be sure to keep a special look-out for Indian sweets they are out of this world, in fact, why not have a go at making your own, I guarantee the whole family will love them.
