... or - A Sobering Thought From the 29th October a massive 50ft tall steel sculpture of a grouse will be lit up at night, using an innovative solar panelled system which will be the first of its kind in Scotland. This 50ft grouse has been erected overlooking one of Scotland’s busiest road junctions, the gateway to the Highlands, the Broxden roundabout. Situated on the outskirts of Perth where the M90 from Edinburgh, the A9 from Glasgow, and the A9 North all meet. It should be no surprise to learn that this 50ft grouse has been 'gifted' by the drinks giant Edrington Group, producers of the “Famous Grouse” whisky. I fear that perhaps on some dark winter's night as I drive home northwards from the big city, the sight of an illuminated 50ft Grouse staring down at me from the night sky, may just have me retire to the nearest hostelry for - 'one for the road'.
