This week ambulance workers rejected a pay deal from the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) that would have required them to respond to emergency call-outs during any breaks.
Here in the Highlands, time can be of the essence. And for those of us with the condition we have, who one day may need to call upon the ambulance service in a hurry, there now hangs that dreadful nagging doubt that it just might be someone’s tea break. All the relevant parties, the SAS, the unions and I would include also Nicola Sturgeon, should be locked in a room until they agree upon a solution to this urgent and pressing problem.
I would beg them to do so with some haste – for all our sakes.
