The Flower Festival 1972
At the end of 1980, a new extension to the Barn was opened by The Lady Patience Baden-Powell. This included a Guiders' sitting room and bedroom, toilets and showers. A new Craft Room was also built at this time. Also in 1980, Interlink was held, a happy camp of delegates from the U.K., Branch Associations and Caribbean countries. This preceded the Commonwealth Conference which was held at Foxlease in 1981.
Foxlease celebrated its Diamond Jubilee in 1982 with another Flower Festival and a special camp at which 200 Rangers and Guides joined together to perform a pageant "Children of the Forest".
In 1985 an ambitious project was undertaken to dredge the lake which had become silted up over a period of fifty years. Upon completion of the work, a new range of on-site activities was available; pond dipping, conservation, rafting and canoeing. These activities were complemented by the addition of a new, covered, heated, swimming pool, replacing the original pool which had been built in 1928.
