Dear Caledonian Canal customer

We are delighted to invite you to our annual Caledonian Canal Customer Forum on Saturday 10th May at the SGL Boardroom, Eden Court Theatre, Inverness.

This will be a great opportunity to meet some of the members of Scottish Canals’ senior management team including our new Chairman Andrew Thin, one of our Board Members Tanya Castell, Director of Estates Katie Hughes, and Russell Thomson, Waterway Area Manager.

As well as hearing interesting presentations about current activities and future plans for the Caledonian Canal, there will be time set aside to answer any questions you might have about our waterway and its environs.

Starting at 10.30am, the Forum will finish with sandwiches and refreshments at about 12.15pm.

If you would like to attend, so that we can organise the catering, please reply by email to enquiries@scottishcanals.co.uk (marking your email ‘Caledonian Customer Forum’) or call the Caledonian Canal office on 01463 725500.

FUN day at Banavie : GO WILD in Lochaber!

Scottish Waterways Trust [associated with Scottish Canals] sent us the following request:

I am organising a water based family fun day at the Banavie end of the canal on Saturday May 17th with lots of opportunities for water sports interest.  We have a variety of local activity providers delivering ‘come and try’ events on the water – kayaks, canoes, electric boats, dinghies, ribs and rowing boats etc. as well as more sedate cruises and full on adventure rib excursions from Corpach on the sea.  This will be a large event hopefully attracting around 2000 people over the whole day.  It is also linked to the Wild Lochaber Festival and is, in effect, their launch event for the week.  This means lots of promotion and wide interest across a variety of areas.  There will be food, music, climbing wall, face painting, water walkers and talks (in the Moorings Hotel) as well as a raft race (would the GGCUA want to enter a 4 man team?) and Sea Cadets race.

If the GGCUA would like to get involved in any way then I would be open to suggestions – maybe a small stall or a fundraising activity for a canal community related project.  Get in touch if you would like to find out more.  If any members would like to help out as stewards for the day that would be greatly appreciated

Thanks
