 BODY MASSAGE

Body Massage is an extremely popular treatment. It can be defined as the manipulation of soft body tissue for therapeutic purposes. For thousands of years the laying on of hands or massage has been used to heal or comfort, and forms of massage are found in almost every culture. Holding or rubbing a part of the body that is causing us discomfort is instinctive for humans.  The massage movements I us are based on the Swedish system of massage using my hands, thumbs, fingers and forearms.

What happens during a Body Massage?

Before your treatment, I will make an assessment of your general health and well-being and will develop with you a treatment plan tailored to your individual requirements.

If a Full Body Massage is appropriate for you, I will leave the room and ask you to remove your clothing down to your underwear and lay on the couch face up, and to cover yourself with large towels, to keep you warm and to protect your privacy. Once I have completed your feet, ankles, legs, abdomen (optional) hands, arms, sloulders and neck. I will ask you to roll over onto your front, using a special technique that I will talk you through that will be safe and protect your privacy (if you are a female client I will ask you to undo your own bra at this stage so that it will not become stained by the massage medium being used). I will finish the massage off starting with the feet, ankles, leges and back.

Your privacy will be maintained at all times.

There are numerous benefits of massage, both physical and emotional.

  • relaxes the mind and body
  • increases the blood and lymphatic circulation
  • relaxes tight muscles
  • relieves stiff joints
  • encourages deeper and relaxed breathing
  • helps to induce feelings of calmness

  • creates a feeling of well-being

Note this therapy works alongside of conventional medical treatments and should not replace it, your G.P.'s permissiom may be needed before you can receive a treatment
