A Big hello from Stephen and his wife Pat, Thank you for your support - it is most appreciated !

This is our planned walk. Hopefully we raise both awareness of Cancer and lots of Cash for Local Cancer Charities!

Stephen is being joined on this walk for all or part of the route by James ( Jim) Morrison, Phyl Campbell, Edward Haynes, David & Alison Downey,Alison & Johnathan Ness, Pat Masterman & Claire & Megan Gorst & Rachel Gorst , Sonja Dejik, Suzanne & Bjorn Otepka-Jasobsen & Sandra( Sandie) Mcleod & Eilidh Mcleod & Rev Ewan Gilchrist & Andy & David Turnbull & Adam Davidson who will also be raising money for the cause.

Long Distance Charity Walk – Glasgow to Inverness

( Kelvin Way, West Highland Way & Great Glen Way)

In aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and Maggie  Centre, Inverness.

30th April to 9th May 2011. Itinerary .Total 185miles.


A Charity fundraising, long distance walk by Stephen Mackay, in a kilt from the banks of the River Clyde in the Glasgow City Centre to the Raigmore Hospital in Inverness = 185 miles in 10 days.

 Day 1  Sat  30th April 2011; Glasgow Heliport to  Milngavie, 9 miles (kw )                               

                                          Milingavie to Carbeth 5th miles (whw)

                                               Carbeth to Drymen 7miles. (wh

                                                Overnight : Drymen.

 Day 2   Sun 1st May 2011; Drymen to Balmaha 8miles (wh

                                            Balmaha to Rowerdennan 7miles(wh

                                            Overnight ; Rowerdennan. 

 Day 3  Mon 2nd May 2011; Rowerdennan to Inversnaid 7miles.(wh

                                             Inversnaid to Inverarnan 7miles(wh

                                             Overnight ; Inverarnan.

 Day 4 Tues 3rd May 2011; Inverarnan to Crianlarich 6miles.(wh

                                             Craianlarich to Tyndrum 6miles.(wh

                                             Tyndrum to Bridge of Orchy.7miles.(wh

                                              Overnight : Bridge of Orchy.


Day 5 Wed 4th May 2011;  Bridge of Orchy to Inveroran 2miles(wh

                                              Inveroran to Kingshouse 10miles.(wh

                                               Kingshouse to Kinlochleven 9miles.(wh

                                              Overnight : Kinlochleven.

 Day 6 Thurs 5th May 2011; Kinlochleven to Fort William 18miles(gg

 Day 7 Friday 6th May 2011; Fort William to Gairlochy 10.8miles(gg

                                                Gairlochy to South Laggan 11.5 miles(gg

                                                Overnight : South Laggan.

 Day 8 Sat 7th May 2011;    South Laggan to Fort Augustus 11miles(gg

                                              Fort Augustus to Invermoriston 7miles(gg

                                               Overnight : Invermoriston.

 Day 9 Sun 8th May 2011 Invermoriston to Drumnadrochit 12miles(gg

                                                 Overnight :Drumnadrochit.

 Day 10. Mon 9th May 2011    Drmnadrochit to Blackfold 14miles.(gg

                                                 Blackford to Dochgarroch

                                           Dochgarroch to Inverness Castle  5miles (gg

                                  Inverness Castle to Raigmore Hospital 4miles.(in 

                                  Overnight : Inverness.

                                     Journeys End = TOTAL 185 miles.  


Stephen hopes to post photos on the website during this epic journey. But please do not worry if you can't join him in person as he hopes to make a small film of the event which will be available afterwards and Stephen could arrange a public showing near you if you wish.

 A big thank you from Stephen for all his co-walkers Supporters, Sponsors, donators for raising so much money in aid of local Cancer Charities. A special thankyou for all the work Jay Muirhead has done in the background with all the PR and website design for this challenge.

Proceeds to go to Macmillan Cancer Support and Maggie's Centre Inverness in recognition of the support they and other medical professionals including her GP's have given Pat Mackay over the last 18 months.

Pat successfully carried out her Bucket List Challenge to ride a Zip Wire twice on 1st nov 2011.  Footage of the ride in the Film and soon to be posted on You Tube and Face Book.Thanks to Compass Outdoor Centre Glenshee for making this dream happen.

Pat sadly lost her courageous fight against Cancer and brain cancer on 10th February 2012. She was an Inspiration to all who met her. Always Loved ... Never Forgotton ! X
