was not a good one for the team Bridge of Orchy to Kingshouse thru Glencoe to the Devils staircase to Kinlochleven but at least the weather will still be good and hopefully not too hot! Will this really be the last day of fantastic weather?. After a hard days walk Stephen and co final reach the devil stairs, on the decent Stephen sustained a shin splint injury to his left leg(which is caused by walking on hard ground) which is now bandaged to help him continue the walk but there day was still to be troubled he found out Caly hd beat Celtic! .
Stephen and crew set of this morning, in the rain and arrived a Drumnadrochit about teatime all ready for an early night as tommorow is the last leg of the journey. They were met by a large part of the 'Mackay Clan' here to cheer them on on there final day. hope to see you all at the town house inverness about 5pm, where we will walk the last mile to the Maggie Centre. We had a great evening in the backpackers despite Sonja ordering the foot take away on the phone in Aberfeldy whenwe were in Drumnadrochid -- a wee dump blode moment perhaps sonja.? DAY TEN -FINAL DAY. A very early start today as we headed for the final push. The Way took us through Drumnadrochit where we were met by Adam Davidson replendent in his hilt and moses staff. We left Jim behind as he waited to dropp off his luggage at the camper van. However he missed the turnoff and ended up with an extra few miles to catch up the group. We were all worried about Jim and with no mobile single we could not connect with him. However David, Andy ,David D & Adam & Stephen were so worried that they went into a eco cafe in the middle of a forest for tea coffe and in Andy's case a bowl of soup and home made butter and bread! Jim caught up with the other group and Sandie was setnt back to find the stragglers who were enjoying their rustic cuppa! We were soon met by Jack, Joan , Sheila and later on by Phyl & Robert. The press and Skerryvore were always on the phone when we got a single as we started to close in on Inverness.
On Ness Bank we were joined by Audrey, Daryll , Skerryvore and a film crew for a new Skerryvore Music / Cancer video. Jim & Stephen were asked to walk forward and back over and over for the cameras. Then now about 20 strong we went up to ton house for an emotional reunion at the end of the Great Glen Way. This included Pat's mum Peggy and there was hardly a dry eye. Then more media photos. Then off up to Maggies. Then just as Pat joined us in her wheel chair( Sandie got her wish) a raindow ( sign of hope) formed over Maggie's!
We then marched into Maggie's and then Jim had a suprise reunion with his wife Bernedette. We then had a lovely receptions with more P&G photos after a on walk interview. Then Skerryvore played a wonderful set including on the road. Especially for Bernie Home to Dunegal. Stephen the mad a passionate thank you speech- Weve Done it! Ten days is a long time five big news stories : Bin Laden dead, SNP landslide, Norwich promoption, Celtic Beat by Caley give iniative to Gers and pioniantly Servi Bal.... lost his brave fight to brain cancer. The evening went on with Skerryvore signing CD's and filming their video. We then retired for a buffet and welcome pampering at Kingsmills Hotel. We did it Glasgow To Inverness - 10 days - on time- lots of fun and over £5,000in the funds! Well done to everyone who walked, contibuted or Supported Stephen's Footsteps Chalenge. God Bless !
