DAY ONE

We had a beautiful day for the start of the walk today. It kicked off this morning at the Tall Ship, with a rousing send-off from Donald and his colleagues in the Williamwood Pipe Band. We got to Milngavie late morning, and did some can-rattling beside the start of the WHW before setting off again just after 2.

Stephen and co. arrived in Drymen - after a much-needed break for a pint at the Beech Tree Inn in Dumgoyne - around 8. They are currently in the Clachan Inn, hoping that their hour-and-a-half wait for food is worth it.. He felt faint after day one until he got a meal but chuffed that day 1 is over and only 9 to go!

Stephen wants to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone who made it today. He very much appreciated Skerryvore's presence at 8 this morning - especially after their late night! Remember to download your copy of 'On the Road' on Monday.
Just another 173 or so miles to go!

DAY TWO  The section from Balmaha to Rowerdenan was fairly tough. Arrived at Rowdennan, weather today has been lovely sunshine but a bit windy in parts everyone tired but spirits high, we are sitting round the camper in the loch side eating and enjoying the views .On the way to the campsite the owner told them that he closes the site at 10.30 and exactly at 10.30 Stephen pat and co arrived at Casthel campsite, to find the owner standing at the closed gates, refusing them entry they explain about Pats brain Tumour and he replied campsite closed and refunded them their money but they found a lay by and rested for the night lets hope tommorrow is a better day.

DAY THREE  We were in deed blessed today with the weather and the fun but why should we have been suprised as God  has blessed this event! Arrived safely at Inverarnan campsite and refreshments in pub after a long day! The weather and company has been superb.
People have been joining us at various place on the walk to cheer us on and donate money, this has kept our spirts high in our walk for cancer.  thankyou to all. Stephen lost his stick and it was handed in by a lovely dutch family who thought he was their new super hero the new Rob Roy ! . Well he did make someone catch a fish who had fished all day with nothing until Stephen spoke to him !  Stephen also bumped into to old Social Work colleagues Bob Thomson & Duncan Macnaughton from P& K days; walking the other way! Now have phone charge and signals for the moment anyway. Inveraran to Bridge of Orchy tommorrow .

DAY FOUR  Stephen,Phyl and Jim arrived safely in Bridge of Orchy at 6.15 last night without any delays for fires or closed roads thakfully.Big day today across Rannoch Moor and up by Tyndrum.

DAY FIVE   was not a good one for the team Bridge of Orchy to Kingshouse thru Glencoe to the  Devils staircase to Kinlochleven but at least the weather will still be good and hopefully not too hot! Will this really be the last day of fantastic weather?. After a hard days walk Stephen and co final reach the devil stairs, on the decent Stephen sustained a shin splint injury to his left leg(which is caused by walking on hard ground) which is now bandaged to help him continue the walk but there day was still to be troubled he found out Caly hd beat Celtic!

We left Jim behind as he waited to dropp off his luggage at the camper van. However he missed the turnoff and ended up with an extra few miles to catch up the group. We were all worried about Jim and with no mobile single we could not connect with him. However David, Andy ,David D & Adam & Stephen were so worried that they went into a eco cafe in the middle of a forest for tea coffe and in Andy's case a bowl of soup and home made butter and bread! Jim caught up with the other group and Sandie was setnt back to find the stragglers who were enjoying their rustic cuppa! We were soon met by Jack, Joan , Sheila and later on by Phyl & Robert. The press and Skerryvore were always on the phone when we got a single as we started to close in on Inverness.
On Ness Bank we were joined by Audrey, Daryll , Skerryvore and a film crew for a new Skerryvore Music / Cancer video. Jim & Stephen were asked to walk forward and back over and over for the cameras. Then now about 20 strong we went up to ton house for an emotional reunion at the end of the Great Glen Way. This included Pat's mum Peggy and there was hardly a dry eye. Then more media photos. Then off up to Maggies. Then just as Pat joined us in her wheel chair( Sandie got her wish) a raindow ( sign of hope) formed over Maggie's!
