Moto GP Testing

by @FlyingFleaMoto - 17:00 on 03 February 2012

Sitting down this afternoon to write this, I feel the onset of a flu coming along..but blogging waits for no man. And the big topic this week is the Moto GP testing at Sepang.

And I must say it has been an interesting few days, so I guess it best to start on day 1. Unfortunately I was not able to keep upto date with things on day 1 but I heard through the grapevine that Twitter was a flurry of activity with everyone sharing their opinions, views and thoughts on just about everything. We have to remember that this was only the first day.

Not knowing what to expect is one thing, seeing what happened is a totally different feeling. Seeing Lorenzo topping the timing charts, with Cructchlow in third and Rossi in 5th things seemed to be shaping up nicely. Of course we all knew the CRT bikes would be at the back of the grid but not sure how far back. How ever there was noticeable absentee in the shape of Stoner who injured himself just before the day began. Also from day one it was great to see some banter between Yamaha and Honda.

Day 2 came and news came about of some new proposals for 2013, you can read up on the news story on my website. With the return of Stoner to the grid he immediately made an impression and put the fastest laptime of the day. 1 thing I found very interesting was some of the comparisons between the 2011 and 2012 tests, apart from Bautista, Dovizioso and Edwards who changed brands and went to a CRT bike almost everyone else in the field made improvements. Even Bradl who replaced Elias on the LCR Honda put out a better time. 1 person on day 2 who missed out though Pedrosa who recorded a slower time than 2011.
Nicky Hayden was riding at not quite 100% which showed as he did not complete as much testing as he would of liked, but has the opportunity to possibly recover lost testing time at Jerez. Day 3 testing ended with Stoner quickest, lapping the Sepang circuit in under 2 minutes. There has been encouring stories coming from all corners of the Moto GP and some amazing images. I am putting together a little collection will I be adding to my site later on.

The action does not stop there as it starts coming thick and fast with WSBK and Moto 2 testing coming up. Racing action starting from the start of next month. Finally a quick shoutout to Team 99 who had their first ruin out this week, we are going to be following you all the way through 2012.

In the mean time though I am going to divert away from bikes from a it and go onto the Rugby. I am a passionate England supporter and this weekend sees the start of the 6 nations tournament and the renewed rivalry between Nick (Ireland) and me (England). So could luck to all teams competing and COME ON ENGLAND!!
