Our First Blog
21 January 2012
Well here goes nothing…our first blog.
As I sat down to write this many subjects came to mind and honestly I had trouble deciding exactly what should be the topic. Should I go for the upcoming seasons in Moto GP? Prehaps BSB or WSB? Or maybe something a bit more random like my thoughts on life itself.
After much hard thinking (it really did hurt my head) I decided that I would wait a short while before blogging about the upcoming 2012 seasons in the various motorcycle racing championships and instead would start with something a little closer to home…
Flying Flea Motorcycles to be exact and where oh where to start. Where did the name come from? Why a flea? Who exactly are we? What are we looking to achieve?
Well Flying Flea Motorcycles is the brain child of Nick Barrett and the name came from somewhere inside his mind. Nobody not even me really know the true reason why he decided to call the business Flying Flea Motorcycles or where the flea came from and I don’t think we ever will, but I do like a bit of mystery in life.
Nick has been a biker since a young age, a massive Rossi fan and an avid fan of Moto GP, BSB and WSB. Like most people he has worked in a variety of jobs until one day decided enough is enough and realised he wanted his own business and as his passion is for bikes why not start there.
Now for myself... well I could go on for ages but after the first couple of lines you would probably get bored and go read another blog somewhere, so I will keep it short. I didn’t really get into bikes until I was almost in my mid 20’s after deciding I needed a change in life. I am very much more computer minded rather than hands on like Nick but I am learning (albeit slowly).
As a business we have decided rather than just going to a bank and getting them to give us money to start up we decided to go it alone. Nick started by buying a couple of bikes and working on them between his normal day job in the car park outside his house. This was hard work as he was restricted by weather conditions and lack of tools and equipment. Slowly the bikes got finished and over time we got a garage, more equipment and tools. We still have a long way to go to be where want but we’re getting there and soon to start work on completing our own little paint shop.
Ultimately our goal is to be building bikes/working on bikes full time in our own proper garage or one day having our own little race team.
So there we go, our first blog is almost complete. Now I don’t know how good or bad this actually is and I can’t wait to get some comments before I start filling the cyber world with the mad ramblings of a guy on the wrong side of 25. As we are trying to grow we have created our own website, twitter account, Facebook page and even have a Youtube account, you can follow us using the details below. Feel free to leave comments on our feedback page or twitter accounts.
My last comment is to wish everybody a great 2012, and for all the riders/drivers in motorsport around the world have a great and safe 2012 season.
