 Many years ago, my dad was a fireman.  He worked at Manchester Airport and later with Greater Manchester Fire Service.

Fast forward to the late 1980s and he began collecting fire helmets and taking them to rallies.  He won several awards over the years for the collection. Now he claims he has passed the collection onto me although I reckon he would be annoyed if I sold it off! (hence the our).

I'm a Paramedic by trade, but since I ve been dragged up in this manner, I have a rather large interest in the fire service and also own a fire engine

Recently I found a Darlington Fire Brigade Steel Helmet on Ebay. It's often claimed by "experts" that the red ring Darlington badge was never actually used.  Im sure the presence of this helmet proves otherwise.  It is therefore the rarest helmet in the collection to date.
